I think the main problem we face today is overreaction, religions have already made the transition, quietly de-emphasizing the irrational elements in their heritages, abandoning the xenophobic and sexist prohibitions of their quite recent past, and turning their attention from doctrinal purity to moral effectiveness. The fact that these adapting religions are scorned as former religions by the diehard purists shows how brittle the objects of their desperate allegiance have become. As the world informs itself about these transitions, those who are devout in the old-fashioned way will have to work around the clock to provide attractions, distractions%u2014and guilt trips%u2014to hold the attention and allegiance of their children?

Freinds, time demands to look at the real and blatant injustices meted out to the lower castes of our society every day. Author Maharishi Balmiki and his creation RAMAYANA, source of many ref. belonged to a lower caste. What we needs most is, to investigate and research and tell how & why the accomplished author Balmiki's clans had gone lowest in the ranks in society ? Who is responsible for theirs downfall ? Nearly 90 percent of all the poor Indians and 95 percent of all the illiterate Indians are Dalits. Every hour two Dalits are assaulted; every day three Dalit women are raped, two Dalits are murdered, and two Dalit homes are torched. Hindu society must ponder this question seriously !

You forgot to mention the rice / rupees he got for his conversion. Edge - Casteism is not only in Hinduism. What about your "racism" in your US...? What about Shia/Sunni fight in any islamic country...? Every society has its own drawback. Dont link this to Ram-Sethu bridge. This shows how much you are sick in your thoughts.

Someboby from VHP/BJP needs to organise an all india bandh to show K G Balakrishnan the support faith in Ram Sethu. People surely visit the Ram Sethu on google earth etc. as part of their worship. I think there can be a civil war between communities on the issue if the Ram sethu is not prevailed.

But the Chruches are dead against the party of the 'working class" They were responsible for the downfall of the first Communist Ministry headed by the late EMS. Even today the Chruches are challenging the duly elected govt in Kerala in the name of minority rights to exploit the educational system. And wonder of wonder, all obscurantist forces like NSS, SNDP, MES, etc are also hand-in-glove with the Chruches! How do you reconcile with that? CPI(M) State Secretary Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan has already issued an ultimatum to the Chruches to behave themselves or be ready to face the consequences.

Stick to your religion. Dont drag other religions to this. I say there is no Ram or Seetha and the entire thing is a story. How does that feel. Dont try to hurt others sentiments. I believe that GSI report was prepared for the petitioners, but the court couldnt be fooled by that. Moreover the God is watching all this. Nothing will happen without his knowledge. Try to believe that before writting this kind of comments.

Dear JGN, I think Mr.Chari has vanished. Your points are cogently argued. Burning witches and persecution of the Jews went on in Europe for nearly 1,500 years - finding justification from the BIBLE itself. Slavery was also justified for over 500 years on the strength of the Bible. Incidentally, the Arabs played a crucial role in capturing African slaves and then selling them to "White Christian" Slave Traders. Several million africans were taken from Africa to the Americas. The Spanish inquisition, ensured the conversion of all muslim "moors" living in Spain in the 15 century. Much violence and torture was used. The Spanish "Conquistidores" annihilated American Indians, men, women and Children because "they were pagans" and, therefore, enemies of God. This was not different from the Islamic characterisation of non-muslims as "Kaffirs" and can be killed. Such killing may ensure a place in heaven for the killer!!

Dear Chari, do you know that there are hundreds of hate-filled verses in The New Testament also? Pl search for The Skeptics Annotated Bible, which has category-wise verses like Contradictions, Absurdities, Hatred, Good-stuff, etc from The Bible (both Old Testament and New Testament), The Quran and The Book of Mormon and understand for yourself.
There is an ugly face to Christianity which even the present day followers are unaware of. Just one sentence in The Bible (thou shall not suffer a witch) resulted in burning alive hundreds of thousands of women across Europe. Have you heard of Spanish Inquisition or the Inquistion in our very own Goa? Even Slavery is justified in The Bible (like treat your earthly masters as your god, etc). Whom are you trying to fool?

Dear chari, my post was in reply to your claim that "Still JESUS loves you, He will save ur life from hell. god bless you" Why any one should believe that he is holding all the entry tickets to heaven? The followers of Semitic religions have divided humanity into "believers" and "non-believers" and those who do not subscribe to their religious dogmas will "burn in hell fire for eternity"! What a compassionate "god" you have who has no qualms in punishing the "souls" for ever for the crime or sin purported to have been committed in one life time of maximum 120 years!
I am not responsible for the "original sin" purported to have been committed by Adam and Eve. There is no vicarious liability under criminal juridprudence to punish the decendants of those who committed the "crime" even if some crime was committed by the ancestors!
There is no inferioirty complex. Even after 2000 years after your religion came into effect and nearly 200 years of rule by European Christians, just 2.34% of India's population are Christians as per last Census (that too divided into more than 30 sects warring with each other even today like the Methran and Bawa in Kerala. Some of them like the Syrian Christians still proudly proclaim that they are "converted Brahmins"!
I do not have any inferiority nor do I believe in any god, but let the natives of our country also believe in whatever they want (and leave people like me free not to believe in any god at all).

Divide and rule.At first Nehru was there.He was called as last governor of England.Sardar Patel should have been made PM but he played politics and become PM.Can we ask what was Nehrus role for indian Independence.Compare it with Subhash Chandra Bose,Bhagat Singh.What Indira Gandhi did for Power.The situation today is same.rahul gandhi(khan) is going to become next PM.Can I again ask what is his contribution for the country ?Hindus muslims fight with each other on your religions and remain slave of Congress pseudo secular(Gandhi/Khan)

QUESTIONS ABOUT MUHAMMED'S CONDUCT:
what was he necessity of the prophet marrying zainab, (the wife of his adopted son, Zaid) at such an old age?
what was the necessity of having sexslaves and so may wives after 50?
what was the great creative deed that was achieved for islam or humanity by havins so many wives?
would his prophethood have been compromised if he did not have so many wives?
muhammed said :divine revelations come to me in aisha's bed - so when he had se*x with a young child, u get the quran? and thats the book u rever?
Finally about Adoption: adoption is banned in islam ? it was banned by muhammed only to marry zainab? did he not have an adopted son before that?
finally, if a muslim couple who cannot have a baby decide to adopt a child, shud it be considered unislamic? is that humanity?
i am not even touching upon the many many unscientific edicts in the quran which say that earth is flat, kabba is at center, heaven directly above that, blah blah blah but sorry for deviating from the point - please answer about the prophet's conduct and how can such a noble human deed like adoption and giving an adopted child one's name be considered irreligiois for islam?

Mr.Pundit,the story say's ravana abducted sita in an aero plane but according to story writer valmiki ram and his friends do not know the technology of aeroplane thats why they build ram sethu,BUT THE MOST INTERESTING THING IS THE GEOLOGICAL SCIENTISTS STILL NOW DID NOT FOUND ANY EVIDENCE OF AEROPLANE IN SRILANKA MANUFACTURED AT THE TIME OF RAVANAS RULE.Ramayan is only a story man,but majority Indians do not know this and they hate and fight other people in the name of Ram.May God forgive those people.What can I say?
