Firstly, the caste based reservation just creates more differences than equality. Moreover there is no proof that Reservation over the last 60 years has been prooved fruitful. Rather reservation for the needy i.e. based on economical status would have been more apt than on a cast based one further dividing the nation. Reservation should be stopped at a certain level i.e. if you are giving them in jobs then dont give them in educational institutions, if they are given in educational institutions i.e. they have achieved equal status to compete for the jobs.
All this is a recognition of our failure to provide equal oppertunity to all citizens without resorting to caste system.
We could not eradicate caste system in 60 years after freedom.....so its ok to strengthen it...what a logic.
if we could not eradicate corruption another few years, we will make a law to provide reservation on limits of corruption...and ppl like indira jaising will argue for the motion.
The comments and anguish expressed by Indira Jaisingh on the ruling by the SC on keeping the creamy layer among the OBC's in ridiculous and totally untenable !!!!
To say that it would deny a class of people is outright preposterous since these so called deprived (whose families are very well off !!! Please include our netas, mantries, Govt babus etc)would otherwise have easy way out and there siblings would benefit from the same and take full advantage of the same and the very people who actually are the poorer,neglected segment from Semi-urban and Rural background would have no chance of upliftment !!!!
Those who constitute the creamy layer among BC's if given this benefit of reservation would far from being Peer group and Leaders would constitute tommorrow's corruption tzar's (Read Netas & Govt Babus) since they never had to work hard to get where they are are !!!!!
Lastly, no amount of Reservation can change Indian Civil Society unless people ask questions to those in power and their govt on effective implementation of existing reservation policies and schemes !!!!! I would have been happy if the honorable SC made it mandatory for the Govt to table a Implementation Report of BC quota on an yearly basis clearly stating the section of audience having benefiting from the same and the same should be audited by an External body and suitable action taken against those responsible for deviations !!!!!
Reservations is only a small issue. The bigger issue is what these organisations like RSS, VHP & Bajrang Dal are indulging into. For what purpose these organisations created. To continue the superiority of 3% Bhats ?
1) Create hatred against the other religions.
2) Kill Mahatma Gandhi and then start maligning him by false & malicious propoganda.
3) Glorify the extremist & terrorist Nathuram Godse, thus brainwashing other youths to adopt such acts of killing if someone else' views are different from their own.
4) Make the BC's & OBC's live the life of garbage without education, without entry to public places for centuries. They did not tolerate the presence of BC's & OBC's anywhere in public places for centuries. Now, they do not tolerate their presence in educational institutes & at offices. Please visit any site on reservations to find out the true colour of these people.
5) Keep the superiority of Brahmins in the society by dividing the other 95% people in the name of religion.
6) Massacre thousands of innocent muslims in Gujarat which is a greatest blot on hinduism and after that defend their act.
7) Indulge & provoke people to demolish a 400 year mosque.
8) Provoke people to burn alive a missionary Graham Staines and rape many other nuns.
What good these organisations are doing for the society and the country ? Are they not doing harm to this Nation more than what terrorist would have done ?

Who is RSS ? Who is BJP ? Who is VHP ? ... Brhamins are not at all related to them ? Mhatma & Baba Shaeb Bhim Rao were too Great humans ever lived in India , they reperesent Indian ethos .
I am not really sure , if "present politicians " like , Arjun singh ; Sharad yadav ;Karanunidhi ; Ram Doss etc really have any thing to do with "equality , justice & social upliftment "
They are just making their lives good , hail & hearty by dividing the people and enjoying this divide .
Brahmins , what is wrong with everyone? Who was the ruling class ? Have brahmins ever been Kings ? Land lords ? ...just check the sociology , society ,find out who have ruled the nation from so called period of "500 years of opression" no not brahmins . But , Yes , they have become easy targets on Rediff/social forums
Cummon guys , Live Cast /religion aside , . Give reservation where needed , give reservation to people who need it . Guys posting to Rediff , we can safely assume are "educated lot " , "access to internet " "phones " .How can they want reservaTION FOR THEMSHELVES .?? SIMPLY SHAMELESS AND SURPRISING.

There is a bigger conspiracy than what meets the eyes. These organisations like RSS, VHP & Bajrang Dal were created by the Brahmins to uphold their superiority. These organisations are used to spread hatred and animosity in the otherwise peaceful societies. As everyone knows, brahmins look down upon the BC's & OBC's (who form more than 75% of Indian population) since centuries. In order to deflect their attention from this issue, these organisations work day & night spitting venom against other religions. This is a very cunning way they have adopted. This keeps the BC's & OBC's mind away from the real issue of filthy life that they were made to live for centuries and the same people keep on fighting in the name of religion. You will notice that Brahmins rarely are involved in the riots but they push BC's & OBC's in these riots by invoking them.
These people have problems with BC's & OBC's(75%), they have problems with muslims (15%), they have problems with Christians (2%). That is 92% of Indian population is problematic for these 3% Brahmins. They have maintained their superiority since centuries using Hindu religion and the caste system. Now that everyone has realised how the cast system was used for the benefit of merely 3%, and how others were made to live a life of garbage, they are using the other cards.
They can not tolerate any body else considered as equal to them. Remember the assasination of Our Father of The Nation - The Mahatma Gandhi.

Amol, you and Pranav seem to have expressed very similar views. Good coincidence. What percentage of the population you two belong to, I wonder ? In the Indian sub-continent, India, is the freest country, in terms of religious freedom at least. Speak to a Shia, Ahmadia or a Christian in Pakistan or Bangladesh. Look, we should all be grateful brahmins do not issue Fatwas.
Few years from now we will have quota for merit students. As because of the existing quota merit students will become oppressed class. On this principle we will have MS Quota (Merit Students).
The real problem of the country is population boom, for which no one seems to b any longer bothered. If there r more and more people to feed and employ, how the social problems can b solved by reservation. In 1947 the combined population of India, Pakistan and B'desh was 33 crores. Now only our population is about 105 crores. Whereas the land and all other natural resources r same as before. They r limited. In addition to increase in population, the per capita fuel and power consumption is also increasing very fast. All this has caused vast degradation of natural resources. Water and air have got polluted. Sub soil water table has gone down everywhere. There was no bottled water 15 years ago, but due to pollution, bottled water is becoming a norm. Roads of all big and small towns r jammed with traffic. Forest land is getting depleted. Many plant and animals r getting extinct. Global warming is taking place.
The solution is forcefully enforcing one child norm on the lines of China. Had China not done so, there would have been a few crore more people on the earth.
Most of the religious leaders, Muslims, Christians, Hindus etc, foolishly ask people of their religion to have more children. It is catastophic. They should know that God and Nature do not distinguish on the basis of religion.
The population of developed countries has stabilised since long, same thing is required elsewhere as well.
