Mischievous Headline
by shashank shiromani on Jun 19, 2007 04:26 PM  | Hide replies

The article by Prerna Gupta is very good and inspiring. However, the Headline given to this article is mischievous. I don't know who gave this headline, the writer Prerna Gupta or the Rediff news bureau. The connotation of this headline "The President said that I am fantastic" seems to be that Kalam is declaring himself fantastic. This is specially so when a big national debate is going on the president's election and Dr. Karn Singh had declared himself as the best candidadte. Rediff news bureau should be careful in giving headlines.

The headlines is within quotes - how can it then be uttered by the President? Will he call himself the President?

What shashank observed is correct. If one see the headline only without going into details, it looks as if Kalam is praising himself. Even I misunderstood first until i read inside the article.

Why Congress / UPA is afraid of Dr. Kalam or any apolitical candidate for the Presidents office??
by Rajeev gupta on Jun 19, 2007 04:18 PM

The answer is simple. Congress (after independence ) traditionally has been a party of sycophants and apple polishers, so much so that Congress leadership expects the Presidents office to be servile to their political interests.

Dr. Kalam has been exemplary in his term as an president inspite of the limitations of the post and petty politics sorrounding it.

I only hope that he accepts the NDA & Third front request and fights the evil and nefarious designs of UPA to shatter the aura sorrounding the post.

President Kalam
by Mukesh Tandon on Jun 19, 2007 03:50 PM

Beyond doubt, President Kalam deserves to continue occupying Raisina Hills and all the names presently being floated for next President of our great country India come much lower when evaluated in terms of past achiements and future vision. True, the present electoral system for electing President does not allow for direct participation by citizens/voters like us but dont forget that all those who form the electoral college are representatives chosen by us only. AND IF we want our chosen representatives to follow and vote according to what we want, how can we be denied the privilege. Lets start a campaign on all possible and visible fronts to raise our voice for RE-ELECTION of President Kalam for another term is office. WE NEED AND WE CANNOT AFFORD TO LOSE HIS GREAT ADVICE AND VISION FOR INDIA. JAI HIND. JAI BHARAT.
