why a child
by indian animator on Dec 11, 2007 08:34 PM  | Hide replies

Why do you call a class 8 student a child or a kid?
Its wrong, in todays date, the generaton is growing very fast, and hence, in olden days what people were knowing at the age of 26 is now something that a 16 year old knows....

Punish their parents, if juvenile act leaves them. Put them behind bars for life. That would actual treatment in this case.

It is the parents who MUST be given life sentence.
How can they let loose a loaded arm for a child to lay his hands on?

Never. The rich parents of these two boys will influence the system and change the course of law. Not a cynical statement, but a reminder of the harsh reality

Hope God gives strength to the parents of Abhishek. It must be real tough on them to go through all this. May Abhishek's soul rest in peace and god punish the killers, so that no one will try to act in this heinous way.

I agree, but with a minor correction. May the "LAW" punish the killers and not god. God's ways of punishment are well, a bit strange at times :-)

Sure, LAW is by us and for us - What we as the people of India decide is morally right and wrong, and we have already decided. Taking a life, no matter what reason other than personal safety is unacceptable. But now we have to emphasize and practice it. Dharma will prevail, no matter what.

Good Question. World over there is a custom that when there is a death in a house, people visit the family and pay their condolences, tell them encouraging words to get them out of the sorrow. This not done coz the loss of the person is immaterial, but one has to carry on with his life, and we as outsiders to teh family do it, as we are not directly affected by it and have better clarity of mind that given situation. The greatest strength of all god has given us is the power of forgetting, bearing which we would never get over even the smallest sorrow in our minds. Now we can do two things, write inflammatory messages and make the death of the child sound silly, or understand and find ways to tell people to look beyond all these. Normally, in very religious Hindu families ( I am not very much aware of how and what happens in others, pardon my ignorance ), they hold a recital/explanation of the Gheeta or Ramayana etc... in order to get mental strength from the wisdom of these texts. What we are to do as good citizens is to find ways as to how this can be avoided, that is very easy, being what we want others to be. Pointing fingers will only aggravate the situation, but never provide solution.

Now to the part of what I would have done if it were my child? yes, I would be devastated, teary, my life would seem merely senseless without him/her,I might end up with bad and disastrous thoughts, thats when I need advice from others, that cosmic philosophical assurance.

Peace : What has happened, has happened. For good and bad. It is a lesson for all of us who are not directly involved with it, a harbinger of the future, ofcourse we have every power to change it and bad for the families involved. Lets pray that his soul rest in peace and lets be peaceful as citizens of the world and not start a blame game.

Tolerance: Let us be tolerant, and understand that everyone of us is different, and killing or hurting them does not make the world a better place to live. Above all as many other people have already said, let us be that example our sons and daughters will be proud of and will be eager to ape.

The law will take its own course, above all there is this conscience of a person. One can escape from any law, but never from one's own felt guilt.

Truth be told, peace wins more than power in the long run.

Still Time To Save Children
by Ali Dhar on Dec 11, 2007 08:14 PM  | Hide replies

This is the culture which we want to follow, dont blame anyone, blame the parents of the kid who bought the pistol to school. It is his parent who gave the access to the kid to arms. This is parent who is responsible who wants his Child to follow the culture of west.

We bought Mcdonalds, Pepsi & Coca Cola to our country & we tried to follow their culture also.

This used to happen in America now if we will not stop it, then our children will follow this also.

This is not a marketing propaganda but true reality of facts going on India right now..
We need a strong government which could solve all problems counter this islamic terrorism, kashmir problems and more important to stop this westernization of our Hindu culture. Ask any normal indian citizen if they know about bhagwan ram teaching or about ramayana or mahabharata im sure more than 50% doesnt about this facts or they are more inclined towards modernization, copying western cultures going around foreign countries ignoring our culture, traditions. To teach all people a good lesson VHP/RSS should come to power to solve all this problems and save INDIA. Jai Hindutva, JAI RSS ///

I like your approach. you are the real Hindu who believes in Secularism. All Hindus are Secular.

But you know Secularism is the strenght of Hindus and as manaagement says your strength will become your weekness and this is what is happening with Hindus and Indians.

RSS is fighting for the Hindus against the cultrual attacks and whether you win or loose the fight, you will loose something.

My friend the world is changing. Your suggestion is like asking to return to the days of typewriter instead of coping with the challenges of speed-tripling microchips that enhance computing capabilities every few months. The VHP/RSS are relics of a bygone era. Wake up Rip Van Winkle, you're sleeping with your eyes wide open. No matter what the VHP/RSS does or tries to do, they cannot undo the inevitable progress of mankind. Look around India; all religion based countries are a failure -- Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, even Iraq all Islamic countries; Nepal a failed Hindu state; Sri Lanka a near failed buddhist state, Myanmar another failed state. India has moved ahead only because of its democratic, secular, multicultural identity. Let the betterment of human race be our goal; Lead India Lead!

By eating at Mcdonalds and then gulping down Pepsi & Coca Cola they decided to shoot the poor kid???

Will your own kids go and shoot at someone? These are disturbed kids and their parents are solely responsible.
