Shoot out in School
by Ramanath Babu on Dec 11, 2007 05:59 PM  | Hide replies

There is nothing surprising in this case. They are children of property dealers and we all know property dealers are those species who have lot of money, but no culture at all. They were the people who were starving till recently. But the satellite towns that have come up around Delhi has made them prosperous overnight. They have now bunglows, cars and unlimited money in their lockers, but what they lack are culture, education and brains. No wonder, their children follow the footsteps of their fathers.

environment has a lot of influence more than belonging to any class or category in the Society - not only parents - even the general persons with whom and in whose company, our present day children move around and witness some role models, this surely has an alround long reaching effect .. let us not just blame the Parents alone, the Society covering many object like a teacher, neighbour, the friends' parents, relatives, elders etc etc all have an impact on the child's mind and perception and eventual behaviour ....

ThanQ Babu, nice to read a concurrence and agreeing on a point expressed from the depth of heart .. it really pains to read news of this nature but where are we heading, if a reflection by all in our Society can surely bring betterment in point of view to be passed to our tender next generation.. who need guidance more than incorrect examples which only we as elders can give them with our powers and capacities

shootout at school
by ajit roy on Dec 11, 2007 05:57 PM  | Hide replies

The parents of the children who fired the shots are to be blamed for this incident. If parents keep firearms within the reach of children instead of keeping them in secured places this incident would not have occured. The parents of both the children should be arrested immediately and send to prison for at least five years for gross negligence. Most builders have very shaddy backgrounds so they have to keep firearms to protect and threaten people. So while admitting children of builders the school authorities should enquiry about the backgound & past records of such bulders before admitting their children. Thus the school is also to be blamed for this incident.----Ajit

Very true! I agree that parents are to be blamed for this shocking incident. If they are in possession of firearms they better keep it out of the reach of minors.TV,Cinema and news from shootouts at American college etc. must have been the inspiration to these teens. Its a sad news.Moral n ethical education at schools and strong values imparted at home can only prvent their reoccurence in future.

NOT EQUALLY, parents only should be blamed and imprisoned. Pray God to keep the victim's soul in ultimate peace, and empower his parents to bear the shoch. You are right-Copy Cut Paste of foreign culture is the reason behind this.

Present generation is given much more freedom to the children at home as well as in schools with the modern laws of non punishments. They are also given fredom to watch all the abusive videos pictures which does not serve but create egoistic and heroistic nature among the children. We have to give a serous thought about it. It is the high time to think about this matter rather than concentrating on any other matters. The government should make proper law and pay attention on such matters immediately attentoin

Things have gone out of hand in Delhi administration. The CM is totally actionless. Be it blue line tragedies or demolition of illegal structures, school episodes, shoot out of businessmen in broad daylight by the police, rape of college girls, murder of models by affluent politicians and now shootout in school.
What does Sonia and Digvijay has to say on this incidence? Atleast Modi is right in shooting out a terrorist/mafia what to say about Dixit the CM for the shoot out of businessmen by police assuming them to be terrorist? and silent on Bluline death on wheel and abduction and gang rape of college girl. I leave it to the readers for their decision and comment.
But Delhi being capital city has gone from worse to worst. Politicians only will wake up when their kith or kin faces such situation. Let it happen soon for the welfare of people of Delhi.

Gurgaon is in Haryana, so the responsibility does not lie with the CM or administration of Delhi. What do Sonia and Digvijay have to do with this....or for that matter Advani or Rahul or anyone else? The fault lies with parents who left a gun within reach of a child and the school authorities and security that failed to detect a weapon smuggled into school. And this incident in no way justifies what Narendra Modi has said or done...infact it has no relation to Modi or Lalu or Buddhadev. This is illogical ranting at its best.

Mr Himanshu, whether Delhi or Gurgaon or Bangalore or Bengal or mumbai, life of a child and its value is immense .. let society think how best to redeem good values in the coming generation.. the younger generation just watches the fun of how elders go around bribing and going along with corruption in many spheres of society and preaching moral values to the children at home - who and how long will they be dumb spectators... all what is happening in real scenario is being impressed on the young minds
kya pharak delhi yaa gurgaon,, sub barabar hai
jaisay delhi kuch heaven lagtha ho aapko .. living in imaginery world in illusion.. please come out of the illusion and daydreaming--- it is nightmarishsituation alround the society.. let us do our good contribution to retrieve the situation....

It is sad you compare suicide (self killing and what happened is cold blooded murder) and divorce with shooting in school in Delhi or Gurgaon. How far is Gurgaon from Delhi dear? Dear you should understand Delhi is the capital of the country and you decide about the security of the city and safety of people. Thank god , the media did not give any communal colour to this incidence.

Its shocking thats our future generations is facing something like this sort. Like US very soon it will have a drug sex gun trotting culture. Our centuries old traditional culture going out of our lives will find place in some traditional model villages of some museum very soon . Its high time we check it now by whatever means otherwise India the superpower of 2020 will face the same that the present superpower US is facing now.

Where are we headed??
by Afiya Ali on Dec 11, 2007 05:45 PM  | Hide replies

My child studies in primary section of a reputed school which has chain of schools across India. Last week he was hit by a fellow student in his class. that boy caught hold of my kid's neck so tightly that he was choking and suffocated. apparently my kid was hit because he made his claim on something which belonged to him and which was robbed by this other child. on inquiring with the teacher and school counsellor I was given reason that the kid has a psychological problem and gets very angry and does not have control over his temper. this was not the first time my child was hit, on other occassions he was hit with a pencil near his eye by this same boy. other children of the class have also been at the receiving end from this mad kid. What irked was the attitude of the school where the teacher and counsellor sympathized with the kid and pitied the mother who had come for the PTA meeting. My question is to what extent this kind of behaviour is tolerated in the school?? Should parents of other kids live in constant fear that this mad kid doesn't get made and harm our kids. Today the kid is small but what about tomorrow, what about when they turn teenagers. Shouldn't schools be giving an ultimatum to parents of such kids to either get the child's act correct or remove him from school for the safety of other kids. I am contemplating taking up the matter with the school principal for I like any other parent wants to see my child safe & secured.

What do you guys think??

You are right in a way that the culprit kid should be punished or pushed out of school. Along with that the kid his parents should be sent to counsellor to find out if theie is a remidy to that behaviour ! because the kid will eventually be studying in other school and if they do not get proper conselling than someone else kids are in danger !!
I hope you will agree with me !

1. The teacher, counsellor and principal need to understand that the aggressive kid should not be in the same class as the other kids unless he gets treatment for the psychological problem.
2. You will need to make sure the principal understands that he is liable for the behaviour of the aggressive kid if he does not act and get some medical help for the kid.
3. If even after these steps you are not satisfied with how the school is dealing with the aggressive kid, you should immediately take your kid out of the school. You can teach your kid on how to deal with bullies and regular kids who are aggressive, but you cannot possibly teach your kid to deal with aggressive kids with psychological problems.
4.Finally don't be satisfied with any solution other than that involves medical help to the aggressive kid( for ex. moving your child to another class).

These are the ill effects of TV serials and films.
There are lot more to come in the near future which will be more crude and cruel. There will be lot of discussion on this on TV, walk talk by emminent personalities, etc. Result - Big Zero.
Parents please be very careful with your wards for their good future. Prevention is better than cure.

I would slap such a child in front of his parents. If the parents object, then I would slap them in front of the child. That way the family will realize how it feels when their child hurts some others child.

Change the School man. Your kid is more imporatant. If the school people doesn't care, then you don't need to care them. Lodge a complaint in Consumer forum and change the school. What else we can do. We all are living in jungles not in cities/towns/villages...god save us.....

The root cause of the whole problem with such kids lies with their parents. The parents encourage such an attitude in their kids. Not reacting to such attitude and amend also means encouragement.

teach your kid some nice self defense techniques like taekwondo, karate, etc. and ask him to pay that mad guy in full. these so called psychos take advantage of fear and the only way to get rid is to make them realise that they have to pay for their actions. this will also instill confidence in your child.
