Only the gods can save India
by U.Muralikrishna on Sep 01, 2006 06:53 PM

Yes! Only the gods can save India. But the gods need not descend from heaven. They can spring up from within the society. The only way of such a springing up is that the voter should make up a strong mind to vote a person once and only once to any votable position right from panchayat to the parliamrnt. Further, none of the relatives of such elected persons also should be given a chance to get elected.

We are cursed

The present politicians is clear evidence that only when we stop believing in god can we survive the evil that we see happening in our country and look at the perpetrators who thrive by spreading hatred.

We have to save India
by Rajendra Arse on Sep 01, 2006 06:28 PM

Why do we need elections in Colleges & Schools. This elections have influences of outside forces i.e. politicians & Goondas and negligible contribution of intellectuals. Educational Institutes are meant to acquire knowledge & discipline. Hence, their leaders also should be selected from the meritorious student. If the elections from the Universities & Colleges would be abandoned, a lot of Gandagi will be automatically washed away from the institutions.

I completely agree with the views expressed in the article.

there should be a law eacted to prevent any influence of political parties on the sector of education. I know that in the given situation where we have politicians running most of educational institutions themselves, it is fool's dream to expect it. But i still beleive in our juduciary which will give strict punishment possible to all involved.

this is true

One correction- the name of the professor is Harbhajan Singh and not Harcharan singh. I knew him personally because he was my father's colleague.

I truly agree with the writer. I have seen all this happen in Madhav College. Once my father was threatened with a knife. And, students calling at home and threatening is not uncommon for us. My father and almost all of the faculty has gone through the insult done by the so called student leaders. And, all this happens in front of police force- just like the mobbing of Dr. Sabharwal.

Goondas in Educational Institutional today - Our Hon'ble leaders of tomorrow
by Khanna on Sep 01, 2006 06:02 PM

The mayhem in educational institutions was started from Bihar in the early seventys under the garb of JP movement which slowly spread its tentacles to other parts of the country. The movement almost brought anarchy and thereafter culminated in the undesirable imposition of the Emergency. Student leaders of that era are occupying seats of power both at center and states particularly in the BIMARU states. Of the five BIMARU states, conditions are somewhat better only in Rajasthan regarding law and order. The present leaders of these states have amply shown the road to success to the present generation.

What happened in Ujjain is a blot to the name of BJP and ABVP and the most astounding thing is the way the state Government was shielding the persons who should have been charged for manslaughter straightaway as TV visuals were sufficient evidence to initiate action.

There is no education worth the name at Lucknow University where students with Gunners roam freely and even a police office would think twice before entering its precincts. When one can succeed in life without ever attending a class, where examinations are just a farce, what better can one expect from Gen Next?

To Mr. Shenoy

Hello

I completely agree with every word of your harangue on the Indian Political System. It's become a farce. I think your piece of writing will be nicely neglected as it will appear only for one day on rediff.com's first page. Then, it will share space with some of the other issuesbomb blasts, rapes, murders, and the likesad infinitum.

Well, here the blame should be pinned on us as well. We have been silent spectators. Until we bear the brunt of such issues directly, we just consider them as nice reading "things" during morning tea.

Anyway, all I can say that we are well-informed these days and something is happening. Everyone is getting more and more angrywith their government, their rights, their life. And this pressure will vent out, one day, for sure.

Let's wait when the proverbial Mumbaikar wakes up and does something about what SHOULD make his/her life better...

Only God Can Save India

The article is well written by Mr Shenoy. Its true that India is lagging behind because of such dirty polictics. The young guns of India should get inspired and partcipate in clean n green politics which will ultimately benefit the society and the country. Corrupt Politicians should be barred and punished heavily so that no future politican can even dare to do any kind of corruption in the future.
There needs to be mass awakening in the media.
People wake up and fight the damn politicians !

Jai Hind !
