SUDHIR SURI
no qualms,no visions
by SUDHIR SURI on Sep 01, 2006 08:00 PM

The coalition politics has resulted in no qualms among the politicians . I will not call them leaders. Leadrers is a much higher and dignified word . Whether it is BJP or Congress the story is same . Last weeks three studentincidents, rincidens on reservations,Vande matram , have really indicated the social tensions which are prevailing in the country.
In one of the pay commision reports justification given for whatever be the state of progress attained by country ,a defeat in war will negate the complete progress.I feel that the same logic applies to us today.
Whatever be the achievements in the country, the breaking of social order will negate all progress the country has made. What use is 7 % growth, when the prices are out of control. Energy sufficiency may be a vision, is not the state on nationhood a bigger vision.
Every politician has learnt the art of survival and amassing wealth for their children .
I agree that there is no future for the Indian masses.
Rahul gandhi wll rule the country over the grave of very many more INDIANS. (increasing rural suicides are a pointer.)

When national level politics takes over student politics these kinds of incidences are bound to happen. What we see happening in the parliament is what we know is our general standards of behaviour. So I wont be surprised that after all the hue and cry this too is forgotten as one of our sad stories and nothing ever comes out of the investigation or arrests. We can continue to mourn the the loss of innocent lives in our blind desire for power and money.

No, thank you. We can save ourselves.
by Kumar on Sep 01, 2006 07:49 PM

This article highlights the writer's lack of understanding of Indian youth and of their destiny. The politicians of tomorrow will no longer be as powerful as they are today. They will merely be the face and voice of the interests of big business.

Witness the steady decline of the power wielded by PMs and CMs since their heyday in the 70s and the 80s. The fate of India rests not with the Rahuls and Priyankas but with the successors of the Tatas, Birlas, Ambanis and Nilekanis. While the ABVP and NSUI are trying to hold on to their power through violence and other repugnable activities, young Indian middle class is quietly accumulating enough wealth and power to secure their destiny. Question to the writer: how many leaders of the anti-reservation protests were from student unions?

While I do not beleive that the rule of technocrats would be the best option for our country, there is no doubt that this will happen and our lives would then be infinitely better than what exists today.

Tears for India
by Deepa Batra on Sep 01, 2006 07:46 PM

I was very depressed reading the article "Gods Can Save India". Depressed not because the author is criticising India but because I know that even God will come to save my India. I had only heard from my fore fathers about India when it was under the influence of British. That there was less corruption and crime at that time though slavery was there. But I truly feel that India was better before Independence atleast our Women were not assaulted by our own country men, atleast our people were not murdered and looted by onw countrymen. That slavery was much better then today's slavery. Yes we are slaves today of these bloody politicians who are like Termite eating my country from the deep inside. Damaging India from core and I see that they are going to eat it out that no one in this world be able to cure it. Currently I am in London and planning to return to India but I feel pity for the people livign there. All political parties yes ALL are bull shit and destroying my motherland for their bloody vote bank. WAKE UP INDIANS AND THINK FOR YOUR NEXT GENERATIONS. THINK AFTER 10 YEARS WHAT WILL BE THE CONDITION OF INDIA BECAUSE OF THESE POLITICIANS!!

From,
Indian

No hope for our country.
by Gyan on Sep 01, 2006 07:29 PM

All politicians, MLAs, MPs, and ministers irrespective of which party they belong to, whether national or state level, are the stinking filth of this country that we need to cleanse off immediately to make this country a livable place. They have lost the respect among today's youth. Each and every citizen of this country who has some love/respect left for this country just hates them from the bottom of his/her heart. Each and every politician should be disqualified immediately and this country should have military rule for the next 20 years and we should groom today's children until that time instilling values in them so they can become responsible politicians/leaders and India can return to Democracy again at that time. But until that happens, I see no hope for this country at all :(

Regards!!

Only Godly values can save India ...

Dear Shenoy,

Hearty thanks for such eye-opening write-up.

While the whole world is looking at India, as the country with rich social and cultural values and as a light house for world peace, your article shows how degraded our so called leaders are.

It is high time for all of us to critically look at ourselves, our educational and cultural organisations, our leaders and undertake a purification exercise.

Prefering current leaders?
by Satyendra Tomar on Sep 01, 2006 07:07 PM

Dear TVR Shenoy,

I entirely agree with you on the points you raised in the article, however, I find myself in difficulty to agree with the following:

" Watching all this from afar I raise my eyes to the heavens, praying that our current crop of leaders lives long".

My point is that where from the culprit generation, with whom you are comparing, is coming. They are blessed and supported by this current generation of leaders. Having known quite a few young people taking bureaucratic/technocratic positions and the various initiatives the young generation is taking I'm rather optimistic of the future.

Regards,
Satyendra
