Shame on you
by jcp on Nov 10, 2006 02:10 AM  | Hide replies

Shame on Rediff and Rajeev, for printing this article and trying to divide the country based on region. Write articles that unite the whole country and not single out parts of it. Don't know what you guys are trying to prove by writing such crap.

by Manoj Kholia on Nov 10, 2006 01:32 AM  | Hide replies

Its pathetic that Mr Rajeev is trying to create differnec Dravidian/Arayan - North/South devide ..
This is quite stupid. Rediff should not allow such writters to write here ..
I request Mr Editor to check for content before publising on rediff. I am regular reiff user and dont like artcle creating difference ..

Author never tried to create differences it is the people who written the posts do
by Sudhakar on Nov 12, 2006 11:55 AM
Hey Guys,
Please read the article again and again, tell me whether the author mentioned anything bad about north India(I feel he didn't).

He only praised south India in the article about its landscape and culture. That never means he is disgrading north India.

The posts by some people here clearly suggests that north indian people envy the rise of south India.Or else they wouldn't have tried to bring the divide into picture with the context of this article where it is not having any relevance at all.

I would be very happy as a Indian(Not specifically north or south),this envy translates into competition instead of a racial divide and make India a super power.

Beautiful

This is a beautiful and soulful article by Rajeev. I can't understand the petty, small, whiny responses by rediff readers to his piece. Of course, since Rajeev is originally from Kerala, there is understanable emphasis on that state, but he does mention the other four southern states, and how they are rising as well. He is not being anti-north or anti-other south, rather musing over the recent ascendancy of the traditional 4 southern states.

To everyone who is ignorant & stubborn, this is the chance to learn about South India & extend your knowledge.

The author has said nothing wrong about or downgraded the people of other parts of India. Grow up guys.

Waiting for the II part of the article to come!

It's all utter stupidity..

I am proud to be an Indian and want die as one..

I don't want to be a part of Rajiv's usual hatred agenda by way of slow poisoning in preparation of another Dravidian/Arayan - North/South devide.

My INDIA is beautiful at each and every corner and boast of one of the greatest civilisation of world history. There is no need of another grouping which will spoil our country's much awaited growth..

All Indians are my Brothers and Sisters and I like, love and accept them as they are with all the merits and demerits..

INDIA..INDIA..INDIA

Black is beautiful doesn't mean white is ugly.

South is great doesn't mean other parts of India are not great. All are great. Writer choose one to write. What's the problem.

Soorya ji, tussi great ho (u r great). Very few guys have the sensibility to understand that this regionalism will lead to us nowhere. People do have different wavelength when they are from different geography, culture and social setup. That difference is there within a family also. SO why to make a hype of South North difference. BUt yes, everybody has the right to appriciate its own state, village, but not at the cost of other state.

Telugu is one of the languages of Vijayanagar empire along with Kannada & Tulu
by Rajeev on Nov 09, 2006 11:08 AM

There is mistake in the article: Krishnadevaraya's mother tongue was Tulu & he ruled in Kannada,Telugu & Tulu. You can see Kannada & Tulu in the coins of the Vijayanagar time.

of course , all southerners are educated whereas all northerners are barbarians living on the borders of civilisation. there is no way u can classify all of south as one . and we in maharashtra certainly dont want to be counted along with you people. ours is a different culture ,we are not dravidians .

Just for the record, I am a kannadiga. South is shielded by the Vindhya Range and the Narmada River. That is the reason why it wasn't invaded many times.

The great empire of Rashtrakootas according to Wikipedia was started by north indians, who came down south and mixed with the localites and nurtured the local culture.

North had Delhi, East had Calcutta and West had Mumbai to fuel the economic growth. It was the south which didn't have anything going for a long time until the digital divide came along. Rajeev was referring to this development in Urban area which may tickle down to sub urban and rural areas.

Why you didn\'t metioned one of south Indian quality \"Hate everything north Indian includiing Languages\"?

How many times South India received foreign invasions?

Greatness comes from sacrifice and openness.

Shut up for your illogical comments. I am a S.Indian, and I don't hate any N.Indian just because they are from north.

Before directing those questions to others, ask those questions to yourself! may be you will get some answers.

Yashwant,

actually no one here talked about North until you guys came along. Don't tell me you do not know how northerners treat southerners in north india?

As far as invasions are concerned. I f babr came to india and conquered the north in 1300-1400 then why do you think the mughals could never conquer the south?? It was because of the vijaynagar empire which for a two centuries kept the mughals and other muslim leaders out of the south. It was only with the advent of british that the south started going down.

Learn history before you talk. and don't talk as if you yourself fought all those wars. Stupid excuses for hating people!!!

HI Guys,
Stop fighting.. we are one..
If south is shining then they should also draw plans for improving the rest of india, and meanwhile people in north should learn the ways how to improve economically.
One thing i want to make it very clear , that due to multiple attacks in northern india, there has been a lot of loss which any body in south india cannot understand. Vijaynagar kingdom would have fallen in the very first day had it been in Punjab.
But treat everybody as one and we are one country.
