Rajeev s nostalgic trip is a message to all Indians
by ranga on Nov 11, 2006 02:08 PM

Grow up guys.Rajeev was taking a trip down the memory lane.It is 10 years nostalgia. It happens to all of us.

Iam in Dubai and went recently to the house that i first occupied with my family in 1995 to see how it looks. This is called being sensitive to things around ( i remember my creative problem solving class in 80 's).

Even restaurants are called south indian. No one says North indian food or delicacies .We should only talk of Indian food with with cuisine like chettinad with regional brand.Iam allergic to this streotyping on North and south .

We need to project Indianness and the organic whole .We are today in the serious job of economically fighting china next 10 years with recent, renewed confidence and let us not waste time pulling each other.Having been exposed to Bharatnatyam at a young age i never knew the Power of Khatak and Kuchipudi till i opened my ears and eyes. The same applies to food ,arts ,culture ,fashion .The truth is all the 4 southern states are fighting today for investments /FDI with Maharashtra and Gujarat. This is a healthy competition and good for the country. However we need to carry the Bimaru states and Northeast with us in future.

Surely great Peninsular Deccan and Pearl garlanded Land!
by Dharmendra Goel on Nov 11, 2006 01:42 PM

Panchkula, Nov. 10, Saturday 2006.
I am equally proud of the glories of the Ocean wafted beaches from Waltair through , Marina, Kanya-kumari, Rameshwaram ,High lake at Ooti and the Kovalam beach Resorts close to Trianantpuram or the rock architecture of Halbidu,Sharavan belgola, Vadami,
Golcunda or templetowns like Madurai, Brahedshwar or
Chidambaram. These remind me of great civilization that produced heroes and scholars like Rajraja Rajendra Chola,Krishnadev rai, and poets and philosphers like Samkara, Nagarjuna, Ilango and musician Thyagraj, and the mathematician Sriniwas Ramanujan,Raman ,or poet Subramaniam Bharati Eng.
Viseswariyya,Sir Mirza-Ismail,or forgotten biochemist Aryappa Subbarow who is as great as Hargobind Khurana orJC Basu,or or S . Chandra Shekhara.
Let us see them as blossoms of Maa Bhaarathi
and the great civilization that has given the humanity a culture of great depth and Meaning
from Amitabh ,Gandhi Kabir and Tagore and Nanak.
We make something equally valuable to day. D. Goel

What is wrong in verbalizing ur love for ur motherland
Why make such a fuss over this trivial matter.southies 've a gd quality that they all strive to preserve their cultures.may be their geographical position cud be the cause for their being not affected by western culture so much as north india did.
One thing is true. There is a hella lotta diff in the outlooks and mindsets b/w north and south indians. Also as nagendra mentioned North indians may not be as religious and observant as southies but at the same time they 've gud reverence for saintly people.thts a gud observation

I am rather amused by the vitriolic anger from my North Indian countrymen at an article, elegantly expressing love, nostalgia and warm sentiments towards a home state/region. Do you know that in every country in the world including France, Germany amongst others, people of a particular region be it Normandy or Bordeaux in France are fiercely proud of their region. There is no implied insult to the other regions in this article. The North Indians who regularly condescend to us South Indians should take a leaf from this southern success. What can you do to contribute to fight evils like illiteracy, dowri deaths, female infanticide etc prevalent in larger percentage in the north?

Mr SK, i dont agree with what Mr Indian had said earlier regd southies being jealous of northies, thats bullshit. But what irks me the most is tht wen some1 says Hindi as "your" language, Hindi is not any region's language, its a national language. There are other states like West Bengal, Gujrat, Punjab which have thier state languages too, i never heard them saying Hindi as "your" language, they never have a problem with hindi, but yes i have noticed that many people from south do not give hindi the respect a national language deserves.

South Indians are not jealous of north indians as reported.Actually its the other way around.Yes I agree we are all Indians and we should talk and work as Indians. But I still have a query. Why are these north indians learn the state language(which ever state they work). These guys speak in Hindi which is alien language to most of the South Indians. But when South Indians go to north India they speak their local language and blend with them.So whenever a north Indian is in South India he should not speak Hindi but speak the state language or English.

and what made you to come to Bangalore in the first go ? It's the influx of people from other regions that has turned Bangalore to what it is (CRAP in your language) today. Haven't you forgotten that the Northies consider anyone south of Vindhyas as Ashuras?

I ponder why the people from North make a fuss about the language in the south? Is it a crime to promote one's language? Do you cry your heart out if you don't get a response to your English question in any non-english speaking country?Don't you make an effort to learn a few words in the local language? Why not try the same here?

Try changing your mentality and enjoy what a place offers the best. If you expecting your home to travel with you, better stay back and don't travel.

SHARON
very little is known of south india to the world
by SHARON on Nov 11, 2006 03:41 AM

Nobody knows much about
southern India-not even all Indians themselves
know well about it.
I believe that we should never divide the
country on the basis of regions or languages.
Being an NRI what I have seen is that whenever the world focusses on India, the spotlight is mainly on Delhi,Kolkata or Mumbai;or the Taj Mahal
or the beaches of Goa.
Not a single south Indian state is given its due
importance; which has the one of the most vivid
and best landscapes and culture in the world.
It also contributes much to the tourism economy of India.
So I think Rajiv has done
a good effort to bring to the viewers ,not to
sow the seeds of division; but for every citizen to rejoice in the beauty of a part of their
coountry. Those who think that it is a biased
article are completely wrong and trying to
make an issue of nothing!!
