Being muslim is additional burden in any country for muslim girls to achieve in feild like sports.

It is greatness of Indian (hidnu) culture that encouraged and supported talented in indian muslims despite their leaders think they reluctantly living in india instead of pakistan or bangladesh.

It is the muslim mullah/imams and the politicla leaders the muslims need to blame for their backwardness in social , financial matters.

Why INDIAN Muslims do better
by Ganga Din on Feb 21, 2005 08:42 PM

Praful Bidwai misses one key point in his praise for Indian Muslims - It is India's Hindu fabric that allows Muslims to outshine their Islamic brethren elsewhere. What else is the difference between India on the one hand and Pakistan/Bangladesh on the other? Indian democracy stems from abandoning the "one closed canon with finality of truth" mindset, and Hinduism's essence is to deconstruct any and all such claims of closed truths. The quest for learning is ancient in this land and rubs off on foreign religions as well. This too stems from no finality of ultimate authority and hence a tradition of questioning and learning ad infintum.

The best performing Muslims in the world are Indian, which is also where they enjoy the best standards of education and political rights. Bidwai should not be afraid of his ratings and should analyze this corelate with Hinduism.

Finally, this was not a gift of colonialism, or else dozens of third world countries from Kenya, Egypt, Pakistan, Bangladesh onwards would have been democratic and world class competitors.

The author is supposed to be one of the great thinkers of Left ideology. But this article appears to have been written by a mediocre person rather than an intellectual.

If this is the standard of Left intellectuals, God save this country.
