how khem singh died
by deepak on Mar 25, 2004 02:12 PM

about recent case of khem singh died of starving, proves that the talk of human rights is a mock in america, and why america anywhere in world. In my openion its the mentlity of human mind who thinks that his race, religon, country is superiour in the world, and he sees his others counterparts as inferiour.minority in any country is living in fear.khem singh death proves that human still is a barbarian doesnt matter if he is living in a so called civilised country like america.i lkow that this incident will also forgotton very soon.Human rights are only things to say not to work, and yes human rights are not for poor.

Half Truths are worse than Lies!!!
by Ruxak on Mar 24, 2004 02:41 PM  | Hide replies

This is the second article by someone who lives in the US of A and having access to facts and has stated very clearly that Khem Singh - a child molester starved himself to death (maybe out of remorse) and that the case is being investigated. RS once again excels in giving half truths with the underlying RSS agenda of Christian and Muslim bashing as a natural solution to the perceived injustices in his stated article. If Shabana Azmi, Setsa Setalvad and others take up cases of unmitigated misuse of power and connections to terrorise the minorities here in India it would do RS good to do the same in the US where he lives. At least they have taken the case of someone forward here in India but what have you done RS? Why don't you do something similar to a PIL in India and also mention to your readers - wholly truthfully the outcome of your efforts. Since you are the man on the spot we would like you to take the case forward. If you do that then the proverbial doodh ka doodh aur Pani ka Pani will be visible for all to see.

Amazing article.

Rajeev,

Your article on Khem Singh's death is very appreciable. Hope, this will make our Indian friends in the US to think more about social security also. Just to add, the US expected the entire world to become one against Osama and terrorism after 9/11 attack. Cross border terrorism killed thousands in Kashmir since 1947. Did the an attack on WTC act as an eye-opener for the US to voice against terrorism ?

Nevertheless, instances like Khem Singh's will create insecurity among Indians in the US, which could lead to reverse brain drain. For the US to combat such situation, I think they should tighten the law pertaining to minority not only in words but in practice too.

This is for Indians who still want to stay back

"Wake up, show your power. Life is just not $$$ START LIVING make the US realize your importance !"

Chill !

How Khem Singh Died ???
by Hanif Mohammed on Mar 24, 2004 01:37 PM  | Hide replies

RS has a speciality of potraying only one side of the coin.In his lengthy article, where he lost track of the subject, and then back, he did not explain why KS was thrown in jail. If I gather, that it was for child molestation - in US or in any other prisons around the world, you are treated by jail authorities and inmates, for the crime you committed. If KS is convicted for such crime, it was not surprising how he was treated. My comments are subject to if KS did commit that crime !! Or in a way I have to agree with RS on the ill-treatment of KS in America.

Child molesters need more pity than vindictiveness.Okay, Khem Singh did something bad. Did he deserve to die the way he did?

All though the article, the authour keeps on digressing from one topic to another. No one but the authour knows(does he?) what central idea he was supposed to convey. It's not a question of whether child molesters need more pity or vindictiveness, but the real question is why was such an important fact hidden in this article? Was the authour digressing too much that he forgot to mention this fact?

totally twisted
by Hisham on Mar 24, 2004 12:51 PM

Mr. Sriniwas, twisted is the sate of ur mind and u've done the same with facts.
U've got issues and ur jus useing Khem Sigh's case to get your point across.
You are educated sir, and a good writer, at least it seems like. Ive never read ur articles before and after this one i wont bother.
The whole idea of getting an education is to have a broader sense of vision and thinking, to be able to reason.
What was done to Khem Singh was wrong, even if he was proved guilty. If only you had written about Khem Singh and how he was treated, and not given it this 'hindu muslim' thing which we INDIANS can certainly do with out!!! Your article would have been appreciated.

Death of Khem Singh
by Arvind on Mar 24, 2004 10:50 AM

While I see you have a made a point that atrocities against members of minority are given more attention world over.I feel that is more because it makes a sensational news item and poeple are just itching to be a part of the whole drama that follows to further their individual agenda. But this has been the pattern all over the world, in every country, including India.Lets not be so naive to believe that the so called developed countries are any different.Since time immemorial Cruelty towards some of their own kind has been man's perverted idea of pleasure, give it any name.So rather than giving it a colour of caste or religion we must fight.Fight this trait as a Race of Human Beings.

This is brutal
by Karthik on Mar 24, 2004 10:13 AM

Hi Rajeev,
I was shocked to read about this brutal act by
the US. I always had a feeling that a cultural
rebellion is b
rewing up in US against foreigners, mainly Indians,
for they feel we are stealing their jobs. The
frequency of such brutal acts is increasing. The
scenario which happened in Burma is about to be
repeated. So, I feel its high time for Indians to
realize the importance of social security and return
to their country. Also, with the US election closing
in, I don't think the US govt would do much at this
point of time against the people's wish. You can
already see it in terms of the curbing of Visas and
laws against Outsourcing. I only hope that the mass
of I
ndia which rushes to US blindfolded open their eyes
and also think about the long term problems and not
just sho
rt term benefits.
