Utopia in Mumbai.
by Kailash Das on Jan 29, 2004 08:03 PM

Comminists wants total control over people, society, media and every aspects of the life, which they believe are their birthrights. This slogan shouting and burning of the posters at World Social Forum wouldn't have been possible in China. Few dares to assemble and surely tanks will roll.

They would have liked to burn poster of Vajpayee but he is too popular not only in India but also with people of Pakistan. So not much choice there and settled for a safer bet, who else but American president, always a favourite target for communists. After feasting on free lunches and picnic in mumbai, they promised to take out huge morcha making massive traffic jam so whole of mumbai will sit up and take notice of them.

Our mainstreat print media , 'intellectual' in their own way, still not recovered from it and dishing out stories how 'honourable' rapist judge had to sleep on bare floor in jail for all five days, creating sympathy wave for the comrade.

Thanks Swapan for raising the issue of Congress support to illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. The 'secular' media which went gaga over the congress victory in assembly elections over a supposedly developmental platform is predictably silent.

Feel poverty & ignorance
by Rebelben on Jan 29, 2004 06:17 PM

Dear Sir,
What percentage of the population do you feel are going to be enligtened enough to become successful entrepreneurs under present circumstances? Besides if everybody has to thrive and do business, where will you find the working class? And you have to work out the economics so that there is an overall feelgood and decide the optimum population the nation should have by year 2020.
Your's sincerely
Rebelben

India Shining is not real issue
by Vijay Kumar on Jan 29, 2004 01:30 PM

The so-called "New Gen" members of the Nehru family stand in Amethi and say that they don't see any development around, and ask indignantly as to where is India Shining for the people of Amethi.
Amethi has been the traditional constituency of the Nehru family for generations. Amethi has always sent a member of the Nehru Family/ their nominee to Parliament ever since we became Independent. If after 50+ years of representing Amethi in Delhi and that too as PMs and most powerful politicans in India, if no development has happened in Amethi, who is responsible for this? Nehru Family or Vajpayee?? Every time the Nehru family members Open their mouth(s), they manage to shove both their feet into it.

India is definitely shining for only 25% of our country, but at least it's shining! India was not shining for even this section till the late '90s. Who can forget the waiting period for Telephones & Scooters ???
If a student gets good marks in Maths and less marks in History, s/he derives confidence and strives to get as many marks in History like in Maths, and doesn't crib that s/he should do equally bad in Maths in the next exam.

BJP mouthpiece?
by Spring on Jan 29, 2004 12:17 PM

Swapan seems to be BJP's mouthpiece. I wonder if he has been entrusted with the task of articulating BJP's thoughts just as Jaitely, and Mahajan.

Wake up Swapan, if the Prime Minister's kin gets thrown out of a running train then how safe a common man is, leave aside the underprivileged adivasis (go have a look at Jharkhand) and Dalits.

Your statement tom-toming the coming election as an India-Italy tussle exposes your leaning. How does Italy come into the picture? Just because Sonia was born in Italy?

Are we on the right track?

Yes, if you are a certain Swapan Dasgupta - who could have never dreamt of driving a Mitsubishi Lancer 10 years back (Maruti was the limit)

No, if you are a certain Bhagat Oraon - unaware of his rights even after 50 years. His cousin, Joseph Lakra, whose son works for a PSU, thinks otherwise. Thanks to the Christian missionary who sent Joseph's son, Samuel, to a Christian boarding school in Gumla!

Is Joseph "feeling good"? Yes, Swapan. But not because of BJP's policies .

Hey Swapan, heard of a guy called Joseph Goebbels?

I hope a good researched article by some sane columnist eventually scuppers this bogey of India Shining

An excellent article, Mr. Dasguta. What you wrote in this article needs to be publicised extensively among eligible voters in India so that the nation will not make the blunder of electing to office, members from the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty.

It would also be a good idea to build on this article by adding statistics to bolster the argument that the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty held India back for almost 50 years.

Hari.

What is the message
by Mohan on Jan 29, 2004 02:18 AM

This feedback might appear to be an attack on the author's freedom of expression, but it is not. It would be easier on the person investing time to read the articles if the articles were clear and concise. Somewhere amidst the liberal sprinkling of colorful words and phrases the central message is hidden and I can't make out what it is.

It would be helpful if the author(s) cut down on his/her eagerness to display their mastery of the language and be more to the point. This is genuine grouse, since I am geographically separated from India and get to know what is happening in India only by reading informative articles.
