I support Pramod Mahajan that person who has any foreign links must not be allowed to hold sensitive positions. If contitution does not bar such person to become than constituition must be ammended to stop such a person to occupy sensitive position.

US which considers itself a beacon of democracy will not allow such a thing to happen. Problem is that India ia an anarchy and we are not serious about our security and National Interest and pride and look where we are even after 60 years. Seceral hundred years of acceptance foreign rule is a living proof of Intellectual bankruptcy

Mahajan needs Primary Education

I wonder, how on earth Mahajan spelled those words against the grandson's of Jawahar lal Nehru (our First Prime Minister). For the sake of political, can Mr. Mahajan speak anything baseless.

I certainly feel these worthless words should be punished by the law.

Priyanka & Rahul Gandhi are SON's of India. They deserve and will be Prime Minister of India in near future.

Bye Bye

Pramod Mahajan

Someone should ask Mr Mahajan if his dad gave his life for the country or if in his years of politics has made any sacrifice towards the common good. Rahul and Priyanka should be proud Indians just because of their father, politics and Pramod Mahajan be dammed.

Indianness of Rahul and Priyanka
by Rakesh on Feb 02, 2004 11:04 PM

Dear Editor,

I feel that the remarks of Mr. Pramod Mahajan are as political as the sudden entrance of Rahul and priyanka into politics. I totally disgree with the opinions of Mr. Rahul Akelkar. as he pointed out that there has been so much cross pollination since alexander's times, but he should remember that none of their immediate generations did not hold any key positions. Perhaps he doesnt know that King Chandragupta was married to the daughter of Cellucus and Chanakya made an amendment that the offshoot of cellucus's daughter should not hold any positions. It is just for the sake of nation. I challenge Mr. Akelkar if he can hold any key position in USA as he lived for 13 years. One can globalise the economy, not the government. In my opinion Mr. Rahul Gandhi has to show his credibility by staying politics for few years and congress should let him grow gradually as a political leader. Then people will decide whether he is suitable to PM post or not...

Rahul, Priyanka are Indian

Mahajan's remarks indicate two things in political context. First BJP is scared of the siblings and hence trying really cheap tactics.

Secondly, this indicates the whole hypocrisy about raising Sonia Gandhi's foreign origin.

And more hypocrisy again If Mahajan is so concerned about people with non-Indian origin parents, why BJP regularly goes to UK, US collecting funds from Indians abroad many married to foreign nationals.

Mr. Mahajan, in a single remark alienated thousand's of Indians who have gone abroad, married foreign national but at heart still Indian. By giving such irresponsible and childish statement, Mr Mahajan made many such Indians felt that their children in future if choose to go back to India, will have to face all kind of illogical debate such as this before making India their home again. I feel deeply disappointed with our really great Prime Minister who has tolerated such ignorant expressions from a person holding a responsible position.

Reaction from the comment of Mr. Mahajan.
by Rahul on Feb 02, 2004 11:00 PM

I am writing this from USA. I never felt like spending time to send comments like this. But, I could not resist this time.

Mr. Mahajan is out of his mind. He needs serious counseling. Some politicians like him make our Country's Politics a matter of ridicule.

This controversy is irrelevant
by Sankrant on Feb 02, 2004 10:48 PM

I think Mahjaan's remarks are silly if he is determining being Indian by parentage.

However, it is surprising that Rahul Gandhi is taking Hindi lessons now as he is beginning his political career and as a North Indian never cared to learn an Indian language so far (if they are Indian, they are not very Indian!). Politically the far more relevant question is what is the relationship of these children to India? What is their competence?

In any case the controversy is somewhat irrelavant as I don't think they will be a factor in the upcoming elections.
