'' Rahul, Priyanka are Indian''
by Hemalatha on Feb 03, 2004 01:13 PM

Pramod Mahajan's statement about Rahul & Priyanka are absolutely ridiculous. How can he say that? Is there any law in the country preventing the children not becoming citizen of India. Such are the state our Indian politicians who boast themselves as the leaders who are ruling the country and protecting the country. Shame on them. They are unfit for the country. I feel ashamed of him and very much sorry to say that such is the state of stinking politicians. They yet again proved and made the public to ascertain once again that they don't have any moral values. Pramod Mahajan should shut his mouth closed when he is not aware of the country's rules, regulations, laws, policy of becoming citizens, Who are called citizesn etc matters. If so is the case, as Mahajan says, then how can L.K.Advani become the Dy.Prime minister of India when he is born in the present pakistan. His birth place is in Pakistan and it is the part & parcel of pakistan. Then coming to the case of Vasundara Raje Scindia, how can she become the chief minister of Rajastan. Has mahajan got any answer for that. Let Pramod Mahajan under stand that the public are more qualified than him in all respects.

Rahul, Priyanka

Rahul and Priyanka are as Indian as any of us. The hue and cry is for the public to swallow without thinking. Our "uneducated" Masses have taught governments lessons before and they might do just that now. This attack tarnishes the BJP/NDA's "India Shining" message.

Law should be framed.
by ss chaudhuri on Feb 03, 2004 10:16 AM

To hold a high constitutioal post, I think the following conditions should apply:

1. One of the parents has to be an indian, by birth

2 The other parent may be a foreigner, by birth, but should have settled in India before the birth of the child concerned.

3 The child should be brought up in India at least up to the age of 18 years which is the formative period of life.

Law should be framed to settle this issue.

If there is a war between India and Italy, which side will be taken by Soniaji? If she takes Indian side, one may doubt her emotinal frame of mind. It would be absurd. This is the reason why she sould refrain from holding a high constitutional post herself. But the case of Rahul and Priyanka is distinctly different.

no matter whether they are indians or not.i really pity congress leaders,if they chose one of them (rahul or priyanka) is their leader.they dont have any political experiance .there are many good and experianced leaders among congress.so no need to accept one of them(rahul or priyanka) as their leader.if that happends that is one of the worsy days in indian history.

Rahul Akerkar and others also have told that they studied in US and some foreign countries.
They could have become citizens of those countries!
But, after becoming citizens, could they have become Prime Minster/President of that country!?
Does every US citizen has got equal right to become PM/Presiden? Does every citizen of UK or Russia have equal rights to become presidents!?
The answer to this is a resounding NO!
They allow only NATURALISED CITIZENS to occupy highest offices!!
Why is it like that? That too in countries which boasts of liberal outlook, free etc!?
Have we forgotten what Chanakya told Chandragupta when he married the daughter of Selyukas!? "Be warned that your wife or her siblings or anybody born thru that stream cannot become king in future!....."
Why did Chanakya tell like this!?
Is is also hand in glove with BJP or Pramod Mahajan?
Is he very young or inexperienced to understand the Indian Politics!?
Our so-called (Pseudo) Secularists may term Chanakya also as Communal!!!!

Nehru's dynasty is Indian
by Badari narayanan on Feb 03, 2004 09:29 AM

It is a great pity that the Indian Constitution does not bar people of foreign origin from contesting in elections or holding high offices. That many are already in high posts does not justify new entries like Rahul and Priyanka. In the US, the candidates must be Americans for atleast three or more generations. While we copy the west in every other field, we have failed in this particular regard.

It means mullana masood ajhar can become PM
by amit on Feb 03, 2004 09:27 AM

Who the mahajan is to decide that priyanka and rahul

are not eligible?

Is BJP afraid of them?

I have recently heard a spokesperson from BJP on NDTV that congress must decide its primeministrial candidate. But why?.

As these days co-alliation governments are formed and it is up to elected MPs of party that has got majority to select their leader.

Moreover Masood Ajhar is indian, his parents are indian, isn't he eligible for primeministership ?

It means BJP will accept him.

It is the same BJP who feels happy and faciliate people of indian origins who hold high positions in foreign countries.

Why did they raise their voice when fizis ousted Mohinder chaudhary?.

Why did they objected to his ouster?.

why do they feel good when indian gets selected in ministery of canada or US.

Shame on BJP.

Rahul and Priyanka are Indian

I guess Pramod Mahajan is jobless, making such senseless comments. There are many more important issues to be taken care of. One can understand with Sonia Gandhi's objection, but with Rahul and Priyanka, it is stupid on his part to make such a comment. Just because India is a democratic country and we have the right to speak doesnot mean we should speak stuff which makes no sense, especially for a guy like him who holds such an important office.
