We can help
by Jay on Oct 01, 2003 02:27 AM

It would help if,, while posting these stories, rediff's reporters would also post details of the concerned persons contact address or any other relevant details which would enable other concerned users to help people in need

The cold storage called Indian Judiciary
by selvaram on Oct 01, 2003 01:38 AM

Very sorry to hear about the tragic incident to this brave girl. But knowing Indian law and courts, this girl needs to know about the perils of expecting justice from Indian courts, which is just one big cold storage. It will take decades and the defence lawyers can be heartless. And worse the press will keep the wounds alive all thorugh. I am not discouraging, but am expressing my disgust with our system, which should render swift justice which could repel other possible offenders and deal with these thugs strongly so that these rapists and acid throwers are banished from the society as they are a threat to the civilised society and law abiding citizens. The courts always have the duty to protect the law abiding citizens from these brutes. But do they?

sad tory
by kledar on Oct 01, 2003 01:29 AM

meenakshi ha suffered alot. more agonising is that people promise a lot but dont fullfill the promise.

hope the honourable chief minister MRS Sheila Dixit keeps her word.

more over the authorities who did not give her immediate medical attention should also be brought to books, only then the inert attitude of the authorities in such cases may change.

false promises
by jyoti on Oct 01, 2003 01:26 AM

The promises these political leaders are making are false. They know this story is in papers today and after a week, nobody will remember it. Just 50,000 rupees!!!!!! are these enough for somebody who has lost everything in life. She might not get the money even gov. has announced it because as we all know whose pockets will be filled with this money. Living in a foreign country, I have told everybody that India is the best but these kinds of stories let me down. The hospital she worked in, didn't care about her. Was any inquiry done to see why she was neglected. I know if anybody reads this will think that this is the way things work in India. I know that!!! But when will things change?

Raped nurse wants a fresh life
by Nag on Oct 01, 2003 01:17 AM

I think we all should contribute to her as Rs. 50,000 is very less. Atleast she get 5,00,000. If the govt doen't provide, some body should start charity and help her. I am from AP , If this kind of incdent happens our CM gives atleast the double amount but 50,000 is very lessss
