bottom line is dollars

I have to say that I have been in an MSN moderated chatroom..and frankly found them not only dull and boring, but a virtual pick up haven from the type of chat I am used to in a community. I have been abused verbally in an MSN moderated room and found them to be not to my personal liking.

I find it rather disgusting that MSN is stating they want to crack down on sexual predators, when in truth the real reason is all about making a profit. Who are you kidding? There is a wonderful gigantic market out there for chat and why not exploit it..like everything else. People will find other outlets to chat outside of MSN. They should be ashamed of themselves for trying to look heroic when all they look is greedy.

Who is to be blamed MSN or us....
by Sandeep on Sep 25, 2003 07:03 PM

The net was a perfect paradise where people from across the world could interact and share valuable information about each other's way of life and cultures. It was a place that was later on infested by people who had a wierd sense of humor. Unfortunately their tribe is increasing and we all have to pay for it. I am sure we all know someone or the other who has indulged in such acts of insanity. Have v stood up and gone to our friends and asked them to shut up and respect the sanctity of the net? No. So now v have to pay the price.
So instead of taking ur anger out on Microsoft Management i ask u to shun those people who were the cause for making Microsoft take this decision.
Doesn't Mircrosoft loose ad revenues by shutting down their chat to the world?
Lets make the net a better place for ourselves and the future generation and not a place where v would fear the safety of our children.
Three cheer to Mircrosoft
HIP HIP HURRAY
HIP HIP HURRAY
HIP HIP HURRAY

PS: I am a hard core addict of MSN Chat. It will definately be missed.

This is definitely a positive move towards the betterment of the society and teenage in general.

This was definitely required in countries like india where people misuse Internet for such activities.

Sudden closure of Chat rooms by MS
by GV Sankar on Sep 25, 2003 10:57 AM

There is always likelihood of abuse of Chat rooms when it is properly monitored or controlled. MS may stop the services for some time after giving sufficient warning / advices to its members. MS may try resuming services after sometime after geting 'GOOD BEHAVIOUR ASSURANCE' from the members. The assurance doc. shd be short and precise and not lenghthy legal doc. running several pages which nobody bothers to read , but readily oblige to sign 'YES' without understanding the gravity of the consequences.

MSN to shut down CHAT rooms

Thats great news. It is a human tendency that anything that is given FREE to the public is misused and abused by the public. Rediff.com and other portals must shut down the chat rooms, or alternately make the chat a pay-chat so that its misuse will be at least minimized, if not eliminated.
