Savarkar and socalled Historians

What one can expect from a person who is saying "Hindutva is nothing but Hindu communalism." for answering the question "What exactly does Hindutva mean?"

savarkar is real freedom fighter
by saurabh on Apr 22, 2004 03:54 PM

i think savarkar is only person who sacrifice his life for our motherland.
one more thing(it is open secret) savarkar is a man who encourage 'shree subhashchandra bose' to accept the leadership of 'azad hind sena.'
congress is the party who divide our 'bharatmaata'

'JAI-HIND' 'VANDE MAATARAM'

Chandra's prejudices against Savarkar
by Shailendra Gupta on Dec 18, 2003 07:11 PM

Its not often that I comment articles like these. But this one I found very disturbing. One has every right to his/her opinion, let alone a writer like Bipin Chandra. However, being a historian Bipin Chandras description of installation of Savarkars portrait in Parliament hall as its very sight is vulgar is at least very poor in taste, if not outright disgusting. Chandra, should have used a better judgment. It is unworthy of elderly writer like Chandra to display his prejudices in this manner.

It is only fair for Chandra to disagree and oppose Savarkar, his views and his deeds. But as I read this article I find Chandras prejudices against Savarkar and BJP appear to dominate his views rather than an honest intellectual disagreement.

Savarkar, Gandhi, Tilak, Nehru, Bose, etc. all are subject to historical review and opinion. But if another writer or hisorian, with prejudices against Gandhi or Nehru or Tilak or Bose, describes installation of their portraits in parliament as its very sight is vulgar, it should be as unacceptable as Chandra description of Savarkars portrait.

Swatantryaveer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar - A role model indeed
by Sanjay Chandrasen Rane on Jun 16, 2003 09:30 PM  | Hide replies

I am not at all surprised by hue and cry raised by the Self Styled Historians & Pseudo-Secular forces after the unveiling of portrait of Swantryaveer Savarkar in the parliament

Indian Historians have always been biased against Hindutva elements and History in India has always been distorted by Congress Lobby. This is evident from the fact that the history taught to us in schools emphasised that freedom struggle was started since the advent of the Congress and finally achieved by Gandhi/Nehru and no one else have any major role to play therein. Thus was our perception when we studied history in school.

It was only when I started studying history in proper perspective that I realised Savarkars role in the Indian freedom struggle.

After reading volumes of literature on Savarkar and his own writings I realised that he was a one of the greatest patriots India has ever produced, having a clear foresight and vision incomparable with any other national leader of his times. For what he spoke of or warned almost eighty years ago, we are witnessing those problems today.

It's high time that the Hindus realise the importance of Savarkars ideas and thoughts on Hindutva.

Look who is giving the defintion of Hindutva. Today everybody fancies giving defintion of Hindutva. It is just like hearing a lecture on Gas Turbine engine from a lecturer in economics.
