Dear friends, My wife & her family increased her ht. by 2.5" in her biodata, so u can understand what saints they r! I live with my widow mother in Panipat far from my home in Guwahati. Within 6 mos. of marriage my wife brings all her relatives from Cal. & demand my mother to get out! On refusing I get accused under 498A. Cannot understand the silence of the womens group to the misuse of 498A. I was a great sympathiser of their cause -even participated in morcha's and rallies for them. Always wanted the severest laws for accused husbands/in laws and did think that 498A was just great,until the chickens came to roost and was misused against a good freind.
Its then that the realisation came that the severest laws were meant to protect the weak and timid woman who anyway inspite of all the stringent laws was destined to become another statistic of burns etc -another statistic for the womens group to cry hoarse over and demand justice after the suffering woman was charred to death. The only people who seem to profit from the unabated death of the women are:- the cunning women who at the drop of a hat run to police and register a false complaint,the police who take great pleasure in filing in all earnestness false cases for obvious reasons and finally the so called womens organisation who are fattened on the sympathies to the tragic death of the poor womenfolk who will never in life have got justice - why?
I know of this case in Mumbai.I had mentally predicted knowing the girls family as well as the boy that the so called love marriage would be on the rocks soon.The boy a brilliant software engineer from a traditional family, it appears got enamoured only by her beauty and youth.The girls family was not really well to do but thought of the boy more like the goose that lays the golden egg. True enough boy played the role of the proverbial goose that laid the golden egg - somewhere along the line he realised that he was fattening his in laws at the cost of his own aged parents at Bangalore requiring constant medical attention- he then makes the mistake of correcting his attitude towards his own parents and all hell breaks loose and he is rewarded with a 498A to him and his aged parents as well. Alas the in laws have killed the golden goose with it.
The "western world" has its snoot-ful of this sort of thing as well. Different pretenses, as there is no dowry tradition to refer to, but nonetheless, western women are likely to get away with murdering husbands and/or running off with their kids with little regard to the morality or rightness of what they are doing. Western men have a 1 in 3 chance of having wives leave them and take the kids, sticking them with "child support"; they use all manner of false allegations and anti-male, pro-female sexist sympathies and falshoods to get courts to see things their way. They are not above any number of shenanigans. Feminists and financially-interested institutions conspire together to turn men into the Great Scapegoats of the 20th Century - and beyond.
Make no mistake, the seeds of the end of entire peoples are found in misandry and the persecution of men and paternity. It is in full swing here in the west and obviously is under way in India as well. Fight this with all your might, fight it hard and from the start; it is much harder to fight later, trust me. Don't let misandrists and corrupt legal entities kill your future like we here are letting happen.

In 'Western world' atleast your age old parents are not dragged into such kind of mess. Here for no fault of anybody, or just at the mere non-cooperation of the girl you will find you and your parents sitting behind bars. They have done nothing wrong in this world except to participate in the marriage or be a parent of a boy who unfortunatelly picked up the wrong girl to spend life with.
Mahua , your analysis of Marital problems may be or may not be. But as far as 498A cases it is not borne out by reality in ground. As for mental problems/harassment you have to realise the the chance of man commiting suicide increases by 50% after marriage but it remains the same for the women. In all my experience of dealing with 498A cases their is a clear pattern of harassment from the wife side rather then reverse. In fact the 498A is filed only when the man tired of harassment finally decides to stand up and then the agressor decides to finish off by making the man and his full family a 498A victim. This is recurring pattern which cannot be ignored. In fact a true harassment case is actually an exception to this rule. man is physically stronger while it is claimed by women that women is mentally stronger. Hence clearly there is case for protecting men from mental violence while protecting women from physical violence. you are living in 1980s,1990s if you say that women is not financial independent. Face it equality is reality . Men have accepted and promoted it.Do not define wear and tear of marrige as harassment
This is very good to start this kind of Organisation. But battle is very long It should be recognised by Govt. Actual harrasment is much more. If it is possible for the Forum, file a PIL in Supream Court to seeking only Relief that These Cases Should be Handeled by IPS rank officials with some time-limit and arrest of other family member after proving of charges against them.
I too am a victim of 498A. My only mistake was that I trusted her and married her. She removed the mangal sutra on the day of our marriage, thnigs then setteled down but when her parents started intervening too much , and I did not accept to stay near her parents house . Her father with a lawer who is also her cousin filed a 498 A against me. She wants me to be a slave and her father wants to retire on my money. God saved me and I came in touch with Mr Murthy in Bangalore and he is helping me since then.
