We have watched Rambo first blood and II and III way back in 1980s. You shouldnt have spent 100 crores to make a cheap and inferior versio of those famous hits. Kamal... I have enjoyed your Nayagan, Mahanadhi, Anbe Sivam etc. Please dont bring yourself down to such a level like this.

Almost all the shows are full for the first 3 days in chennai and so adding more screens in sathyam,maayajaal,abirami,udhayam,devi..Vetri theater in chromepet added shows for booking by morning 6.10 AM on friday..heard fans show in vetri will be by morning 4.30 AM.
Sathyam cinemas-> 45 shows, mayaajaal -> 61 shows so far..if velachery sathyam opens on Jan 25th then in 11 screens atleast Vishwaroopam will be shown in atleast 8 screens with atleast 6 shows each which will end up with 48 shows..so sathyam cinemas alone 45 48=93 shows..already dasavatharam collection in sathyam and maayajaal is 1 crore each..now it seems sathyam theater collection alone will be 2 crores for Vishwaroopam..Hope the movie is commercial as well to continue dream run in 2nd week-end

tickets sold out...:-)
by KK RR on Jan 21, 2013 01:06 AM  | Hide replies

Chennai has never witnessed advance booking frenzy like this before. All major multiplexes in Chennai including Sathyam Sangam Abirami are sold out. Every theatre is planning to add more screens to show Vishwaroopam next weekend. Kamal Haasan has made sure that the movie is a Super Hit even before release. DTH or no DTH, the movie will rock even harder than all other Kamal movies.

"Chennai has never witnessed advance booking frenzy like this before." Is it? Did you watch the booking video of Endhiran outside Satyam cinemas? Even Mangatha and Thupakki had this. Even Billa-2 had such a frenzied opening.. It is certainly great opening but nothing like "Never before" stuff..

yes easily i can say its never before and all the shows are full.Endhiram satyam booking started by wednesday or so and do you know 'SUN Network' has blocked all the tkts by grouping the fans in front of sathyam which doesnt allow common person like me to book tikets online in satyam.
Mangatha and thuppaki doesnt witness advance booking frenzy like this with satyam 40 screens and mayajaal 60 screens housful..You will understand this after the BO report for 1st 3 days.I am not saying such frenzy opening is because of Kamalhaasan alone..its a combination of astute businessman aascar ravichandran marketing stratergy in NSC area Kamalhaasan acting, direction, production not to forget DTH controversy..All this made to never witnessed advance booking..Normally bookings will start by tue,wed but aascar ravichandran planned/prepared the theater list much early so that booking started 1 week before..within sunday all the shows are full for 1st 3 days so theater owners started adding addition shows by midnight, early morning..this shows will also be full by wednesday so definitely theater owners will add much more shows that will be booked by thursday evening..moreover instant shows will be available for common-man who doesnt have the option of advance booking..Please note dasavatharam collected 250 crores which only endhiran broke the record with 300 crores.not mangaatha or thuppaki

Do not see Kamal through the Prism of religion and belief
by Soderling on Jan 20, 2013 04:31 PM  | Hide replies

There are some Morons who see Kamal through the prism of religion and belief instead of seeing through his profession. What can you say about such fellows ? They do not know that Kamal,an atheist, has donated his body for research to benefit the human kind. How many of us will be courageous to do such things in life. Kamal is doing that. He is helping young boys who is suffering from Cancer and AIDS. He is doing a number of philanthrophical activities through his Fans association and these Morons do not see all those things and cite his belief to malign him.

We have np problem with Kamal being an atheist.. many of us are.. but the problem is Kamal makes a huge fuss out of it and almost and always in any conversation he slips into atheism and rationalism , even when not needed and portrays as if he is some intellectual and religious people are dumb.. Most importantly Kamal is not an ATHEIST.. but merely an ANTI_ HINDU

blockbuster written all over it

by seeing the hype surrounding the movie and the advance bookings it looks like Vishwaroopam will recover its 95 crore budget in less than a week of its release. 500 or more cinemas in tamil nadu are screening it. next week is gonna b a major festival for movie fans.

in the north Vishwaroop is sure to give a tough challenge to Race 2 which is also getting released during the same time. It would b great if Vishwa overtakes Race 2 which is going to be just another time pass entertainer.

Race2 will be a dud. Even Race1 was a badly made movie with unbelievable twists added just for the sake of it. Race2 does not have a chance against Vishwaroop. Vishwa will be remembered as an all time classic and blockbuster.

Kamal, the aspiring perfectionist
by Soderling on Jan 20, 2013 04:22 PM  | Hide replies

What I like about Kamal is his total dedication to his profession. He yearns to be a perfectionist although it is impossible. I do not think there is any other actor in Indian Cinema who performs dare devilry act without a dupe like Kamal is doing even at this old age. He tries to blend art with commercial aspects in his films. Many of his films like Guna, Mahanidhi were path-breaking but they did not manage to reek in the mullah. He breathes Cinema and he wants to be a trend setter with every film. Whatever money he is earning through Cinema is again being invested into it. Unlike many other Super Stars like Rajinikanth who prefers to invest in realty markets, he revolves the money within his own profession. His latest venture Vishwaroopam seems to be a class act just if one gets a feel of it in trailers. I hope Kamal has taken an entertaining film. There is a myth that Kamal is not a box office draw like his counterpart. But his Dasavatharam managed to rake in over Rs. 250 crores and it was just taken with a budget of Rs. 62 crores. On the other hand, Endhiran which was taken on a budget of about Rs. 150 crores managed to do only around Rs. 320 crores.

brahmin characters once again
by Informed on Jan 20, 2013 07:21 AM  | Hide replies

when will this atheist moron stop showing brahmins characters for the purpose of ridiculing them? Other morons of tamilnadu think h is just ridiculing brahmins and don't understand that he is actually ridiculing their own religion itself. Its a pity. This is where superstar stands apart compared to this womenizer atheist brahmin hndu hater.

What is wrong in being an atheist ? It is this mentality of the theists who have this philosophy of higher morality where they hate those who do not indulge in the same talking. Morons are those who are having a fixed mind like the Theists. They believe in something without evidence.

dude i agree he criticizes the practices followed by brahmins but Kamal never crosses the limit or shows brahmins in bad light. Havent you seen Hey Raam where the protagonist is a courageous rebel. which other lead actor has shown a brahmin in such a wonderful character. in dasavatharam, the character rangarajan nambi is a brave warrior who fights for his religion. think about it.

do not hate kamal just because he makes fun of brahminical methods and practices. there are many more aspects of kamal haasan which you would miss because of your hate.

200 is nothing. Kamal mentioned in an interview that it has to touch 150 to be profitable. If it touches 300 it is a 100% gain. With such a wide release strategy, it should.
