I would add Mammooty to it as well.Incidentally both Mammooty and Kamal Haasan has three National Actor awards.

Where Kamal Haasan scores over Mamooty is in his technical expertise as a director as well.

Character Lost everything lost
by BALASUBRAMANIAN VISWANATHAN on Jan 17, 2013 02:31 PM  | Hide replies

Kamal was the most promising actor in India in his prime. However just like Vinod Kambli he is only a mediocore actor now & doesnt enthuse the cinema goers anymore. If only he had little bit of character he would have been the biggest living star in India.

Please have some sense in commending a man only for his profession and not his personal life..

Each person's personal life and character is his own choice and nobody should decide what is right or what is wrong..

What difference it wouldve made if Kamal was the greatest human being on this planet!!! Afterall he shouldve acted that well on screen to be good...

who are we to discuss about his perosnal life?
He has paid the taxes properly and has zero arrears in tax unlike amitabh bhajjan who was forced to pay IT dues by income tax dept..last year IT dept caught mamooty,mohanlal and salman khan for not paying the taxes properly and in the same year IT dept conducted function to appreciate Kamalhaasan for paying the taxes properly..apart from Kamal and Ajith all top actors went for strike condemning the service tax of 12.6% implemented for actors,film industry..ohh man you guys earn crores but worrying abt paying taxes..you guys wont comment about this but always want to look at others bathroom and make comment..will you allow ur colleagues/friends to look at ur bathroom and comment.

Kamal the Last Man of Indian Cinema!
by Edwin Vimalraj on Jan 17, 2013 11:53 AM  | Hide replies

KAMAL HASSAN is in a very difficult situation and may go bankrupt. All his plans for the DTH Premiere have gone awry and the Tamilnadu Theatre Owner Associations (TNOA) throttled his additional revenue with their bare hands. They only promised to release his 95C magnum opus in 500 theatres but try to scuttle him in background. Added to these woes, PVR and other Multiplex Chains arm up against KAMAL and almost they have sabotaged his ambitious project in his 50 years of film industry life. And the fans from other superstars already sharpening their teeth to write down negative comments against VISHWAROOPAM in order to glorify their beloved (!?) superstars. Everybody in industry watching - KAMAL a sinking ship - a legendary actor – but a forsaken star. Three loud cheers to TAMIL traitors.

Anti-kamal fans either criticize kamal for no reason or spread fake news like above.
Let us check the Pre-release avenues for Vishwaroopam taking bare minimum :

Tamil satellite rights for Vishwaroopam -> 15 Cr
Telugu and hindi satellite rights -> 10 Cr
Audio rights (all 3 versions) -> 3 Cr
US distribution rights -> 1.5 million dollar -> 7.5 C
UK and Europe -> 12 C
France -> 60 Lac
Aus       -> 20 Lac
Malaysia,Singapore and dubai -> 4 Cr
Hindi and telugu distribution rights -> 35 C
So total > 15 10 3 7.5 12 0.6 0.2 4 35=87.3

Moreover Kamalhaasan is not a idiot to announce the movie budget is 95 crore without including his renumeration.In TN his salary for acting alone will be 20 crore plus 5 crore for direction.So actual budget without his salary would be around 70 crore.
Also he holds distribution rights for TN and KL.Irrespective of movie fate whether its good or bad the 1st 3 days week-end collection in 500 theaters in TN and 100 theatres in KA,KL will be huge because you can expect 100% houseful shows for week-ends..for ex if ticket price is say 125 and for 4 shows with average theatre seats 300 then collections for 1st 3 days = 3*4*125*300*600=27 crores.So kamalhaasan share will be 15 crores out of 27 and after tax his share will be around 10 Crores.
So within first 3 days kamalhaasan would have collected 100 crores after paying all taxes..he is not going to lose anything..all this without DTH release after week-end and anyway DTH revenu

Always it happens in India.the fans from other superstars always write down negative comments about other superstars movies..ajith fans blame vijay movies and vijay fans blame ajith movies..sameway AK fans blame SRK and viceversa..This is not new but if the movie is good all negative comments will fade away and even non-fan will also appreciate the movie..example recent Thuppaki movie liked by everyone including ajith fans..Vettaiyaadu vilaiyaadu,dasavatharam liked by non-kamal fans more than kamal fans..The movie has to be watchable and little bit commercialism has to be there to be liked by everyone..Good movies always will win

Well said mate... the fools who think otherwise dont know how the cinema business works at all!!

You think Kamal is a fool to invest his hard earned money of worth a 100 crores!!! Rather he can lead his whole life with that 100 crores... isnt it...

Kamal is a gem understood only by a few people... The rest can never ever think in his level...

But thats what makes we kamal fans exclusive...

every established movie star in the world is a womaniser... It is only the fake image they maintain in public that differentiates them...

Know how cinema works before commenting...

Kamal is an atheist and so are we.. and we are proud of it...

Kamal and his limited talent!! you need to be commended really for your judgement skills... hihihi
