Dont understand why comments can even be negative about Vishwaroop. the movie is next generation and never seen before Indian move. I was zapped that an Indian movie can actually beat hollywood standard with just 95 crores budget. proud that someone like Kamal can manage this for the 1st time in India. ok, i am an Indian and not anyone\'s fan except appreciating entertaining movies. Vishwaroop or Vishwaroopam, entertaining it is and how! God bless India and its great talents like Kamal to lead Indian movies to next level. wactch it guys and be proud! thats all!
Aadhi Bagawaan distributors have signed contract with 60 exhibitors in Chennai alone for Valentine's Day release. In Tamil Nadu, about 400 screens have been locked. This is the widest release in Jeyam Ravi's career.
It means Vishwaroopam did not cash in on the multiple controversies. It will have 1 week run only in Tamil Nadu - the main market. On Day 2, tickets were available in PVR Chennai multiplex for matinee shows. This is the biggest flop for Kamal.
So far, Vishwaroopam grossed 10 crore from Hindi (1,000 screens wasted with zero advertisement in any mainstream Hindi TV channel), another 10 crore from regional markets (Kerala, Andhra, Karnataka), another 10 crore from overseas markets (USA, EU excluding all Muslim countries where ban stays indefinitely) and another 10 crore from Tamil Nadu in two days (supported by fans only but family audience have avoided largely). So global total is 40 crore as of today.
VEN IF KAMAL FAILS TO GAIN PROFIT FROM MOVIE, HE WILL NOT BE AT LOSS. BECAUSE, HE WILL GAIN A LOT FROM HOLLYWOOD PRODUCERS/FINANCIERS ON WHOSE SUPPORT KAMAL HAASAN TRIED TO COMPROMISE ON HIS SECULAR ATTITUDE.

all imaginary figures.. keep day dreaming.... 60 crores in tamil you must be really dreaming like a dance with World beauty ... it would be a flop definitely in tamil after initial days it would sttle in a average league... but behindwoods kind websites would make ot a hit... even if it fails to collect 20 crores in TN

no one is ready to work with komal neither producers or good directors... that itself states he is a spent force except for the brahmin community who still thinks he is the only intelligent guy on this planet... come out of your frog in the well mindset SX or YX whatever

600 theatres in TN releasing the movie.. average no of shows in a day - 5; average seat capacity of a theatre - 500; average price of the tickets - Rs.50; percentage of occupancy - 80%...
600*5*500*50*0.8 = 6 crores/ day....
even if it has 15 days of run.. it would make 90 crores gross... which is about 60 crores nett... simple...
The figures stated by me above are very nominal...
Know cinema business first before you can come to conclusions...

India Vishwaroop opened poorely on first day.[136][137][138][139][140] Hindi version Vishwaroop improved in the evening slightly after a low start to collect nett. Rs 1.89 crore nett region on first day[90] Vishwaroop is also Kamal's best-ever opening in the Hindi belt after the 1981-runaway hit Ek Duuje Ke Liye. The film has collected Rs 4.46 crore in two days with hindi version.[141][142] Vishwaroop collected approx Rs 7.56 cr nett in its opening weekend.[143][144]Vishwaroop added 1 crore nett approx on Monday taking the total to 8.50 crore nett plus.[145] Indian collection of Viswaroopam is as follows [146] 1st Day Collections is 8.35 Crores 2nd Day Collections is 9.10 Crores 3rd Day Collections is 8.56 Crores 4th Day Collections is 6.23 Crores 5th Day Collections is 7.10 Crores 6th Day Collections is 7.65 Crores 7th Day Collections is 7.28 Crores 8th Day Collections is 7.05 Crores 9th Day Collections is 7.35 Crores 10th Day Collections is 8.70 Crores 11th Day Collections is 8.10 Crores Total Collections is 85.47 Crores

Its 108 now... the worldwide gross... and going strong.. Im sure it would cross 200 crores atleast...
Kamal would start making profits from 150 crores... :-)
9.5 crores nett in 5 days in Hindi... Guys please keep in mind this is just mainly in north india as in south india the Hindi release is incredibly limited.. Example in Bangalore there are only 8 theatres in Hindi... similarly if you take other places also in south the figure would not be more than 40 theatres!! and hence the figure is small for Hindi...
Im referring to this mainly because there is a big Hindi speaking crowd along with the other language people in south india who dont understand tamil but because of the influence and exposure to south movies might be willing to watch it..

do you understand what is a 100 crore club that Indian cinema raves about in recent times... Thats nothing but the nett collections.. meaning Gross - Tax....
The nett amount is shared by the producers, distributors and theatre owners...
It is shared with distributors and theatre owners coz they have also invested some money in the budget of the movie... in terms of buying the rights, MG etc...
Now that the ban has been lifted in Tamil Nadu, Kamal fans expect Vishwaroopam to do roaring business simply riding on the sympathy wave.
But the math is against them. So far the film grossed 10 crore from overseas markets (USA, UK, Europe,...), 10 crore in Bollywood (from 1,000 screens) and another 10 crore from regional markets (Andhra, Karnataka, Kerala). That means global gross so far is 30 crore.
In Tamil Nadu, the film is releasing in only 500 screens. So, it can atmost gross 50 crore there if successful (but pirates and competition with 20 new releases in February alone will make it a struggle).
Also, the film is still banned in all Muslim countries (Malaysia, GCC,...) so zero revenue from there.
Finally, instead of the planned release of 3,000 screens, the film could release in only 2,000 screens worldwide. So, it's unlikely to reset any record.
My guesstimate is the film will gross 90 crore worldwide in its lifetime run. But the budget is 95 crore. So Kamal will incur a loss of 5 crore.

How can u say it ll collect only 50 crores in tamil nadu ?? Thuppaki was a 100c grosser that too with a hero who has a fan base only in Tamil nadu and kerala.. But kamal is not such.. he is being respected everywhere. though there are 20 movies releasing this month, very few are worth mentioning. Also with the hype surrounded the VR movie, it can really do much better business and incur a great profit.

thuppaki 100 crores is not only in TN it includes Andhra/other locatrions as well as movie rights sold value

Thuppaki grossed 80 crore worldwide (not 100 crore - Vijay has a history of hyping his collections right from the days of Kadhalukku Mariyathai). It had good songs and jokes which were marketed daily on all satellite networks. Plus there was no competition. Aadhi Bagawaan is releasing in 60 screens in Chennai alone and 400 screens in Tamil Nadu and Yuvan songs are terrific.
But sadly, Vishwaroopam is just a dry docudrama (wrongly marketed as an action film) with no commercial elements to even promote the film on TV channels. Auro 3D effect was not even noticeable due to bad workmanship in system installation. The film has been rejected by family audience outright despite all the hype which only helped get TRP ratings for TV channels and push circulation of newspapers. Pirated DVDs with high-definition quality is now available for Rs.20 everywhere. Songs did not click with neutral public which felt it was outlandish.
The momentum is lost. Kamal should have insisted on simultenous global release and blocked distribution in overseas, regional and Hindi markets when the ban in Tamil was in place. Everybody knows the plot, getups, twists, spoilers, suspense and dialogues.

oh What a calculation? Do u know cinema business properly? Have u heard of gross hsare and net share in cinema? Who will pay exhibition rent, distribution costs, advertising? First of al the budget itself is not 95 crores. Thats a trcik by film makers to sell their films at higher rates dude. Please dont get carried away by these wrong figures. Know the real size of the markets.
