Taal & Lagaan were missing. so was 'Vande Maataram'...
Well apart from hindi, there are numerous 'magnum opus' created by Rahman in Tamil. I do not understand Tamil but nevertheless loved his tamil compositions. the latest was 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya'..listen to it(Hosanna, Aaromale, omana penne etc) & you will fall for it!!!
But of late, his compositions are not touching the core of the heart like it used to... over digitalization/synthesization(e.g. fiqrana from Blue) may be the reason. like they say there is a fine line between Melody & Loudness !!!

think Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya was done by south indias famous music director son...also try harris jeyaraj...
I have been a great fan of Rahman's back ground music for all his films... In Roja, when Arvind tries to run away from the terrorist camp, Rahman brings a piano based thematic synth sound for the first time in Indian music. In Swades, Rahman combines the Shehnai with his piano and created pure magic... In Slumdog Millionare he creates the "Liquid Dance" and the rest is history.. In Ghajini, there is a sequence where Tinu anand is explaining his best to the heroine that please play the part of Amir's lover and Rahman creates magic by collaborating with Naveen for a background on the humble bamboo flute.... Hats off to Rahman

agreed with you Hari. nice observation. but you have surely missed the bg score of 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya'. I listened to 60 odd bg tracks composed by ARR & was in a trance for a while. AWESOME !!!
