Ilayaraja is best musician than AR bcoz AR giving Different music, but Different is not always Best. Raja's 70s 80s songs can beat nowadays AR music. in my view not only songs Background music is also Precious in the movies. AR's BGM is not good and below the ordinary. Movies like RANG DE BASANTI and BOYS are very few that AR done well. I think JAI HO is not the Best ever song for Indians. Sorry AR its my view. In RAVAN AR fails in BGM.

Completely agree with you.Ilayaraja is the best in the country alongside Shankar jaikishan,BUrmans and host of others.ARR's best was always in original Tamil movies,that too in the 90s.Some of the names mentioned in the above list (hindi movies) is laughable.

Common brother.. improve ur music sense.. i agree that ilayarajas melody was good in 70's and 80's. But his instruments archestration and BGM's are very very limited. same tabla beats in 1000's of songs. Same tunes in 100's songs with little variations. With that name he got during that time, he could have experiment a lot with music and done a lot. But due to his personal attitude he was not able to adjust with great music directors. But ARR is a excellent human being and gods gifted. He produced varieties of tunes, instruments, compositions, melodies, BGM's in very short period of time that no other music composers never able to do. Illayaraja is good for only village melody songs. But ARR is very good in all types of songs and he is a magician when it comes to BGM's.

you are right also his most original score in Hindi was the movie Taal which is missing in this list I am not voting this list!
