some irritated TAMS(under disguise) here saying Sridevi is better than Madhuri... I feel pity for them... Madhuri's Comic timing, go and watch Khel...she is way ahead of Sridevis or for that matter any other devis fo south...

I raised this as the topic is who is the best actress? If her comedy is fine and not very good, or above par, then she doesn't qualify for what you are claiming.
Firstly, the title itself is incorrect, what part of the industry is it talking about; assuming Bollywood, there are much better actresses we saw in the past that the listed.
And what do u mean by "Get a life?" Hold your senses - just don't blabber whatever comes into u'r mind. I don't even believe you know what you mean.

haha you do not even understand what fine comedy means. It means it is not coarse. And I still say get a life because why would Madhuri do something another actress did in another film which she did not do. Your comment and film sense is naive.

It is you who is arrogant and also your comment lacks intelligence. You are just expressing your views. Rediff's critic list had Madhuri at number 1, sridevi at number 7. Readers view does not have sridevi, so y. Madhuri became actress of the millennium, she won many best actress ever poll. By your comment you think you are the one who is acting sensible!! You are no position to make judgement. You can only express your views. Madhuri always everywhere is way ahead of sridevi and that burns you out, so you are everywhere bashing Madhuri. I feel pity for you. And obviously friend's abusive and unculterd comment will be liked by you as that is what is your taste.

And everyone knows how the bollywood awards are distributed? No need to elaborate on that.
Unfortunately, in India, ppl are so much biased basing on region, caste etc that whoever gets awards, reaches top level, isn't mostly(necessarily) the best. Like Congi is ruling our country 90% time since our independence, its not true that they proved to be best to our country.
If you take actors, I strongly believe Kamal Hasan is the best. But how many would agree with me; ppl even fight to say that SRK is much better than Kamal. I have seen this, possibly u'r thinking cud be similar.
So, gauging someone's ability in an area, all aspects in that sphere needs to be looked into. Acting is not just dancing/crying/smiling...now-a-days, if u switch on the TV, u see that every lady is master in crying aspect. Then can we rate them basing on that, NO.
So basing on public opinion, you can't say this is the best actress. That's why bollywood actress normally doesn't get National awards though they are also polluted a bit.

No acting sensible person ever rate Madhuri better than Sridevi in terms of any type of role. No one actor/actress would do a same role that any other fellow did. B/c no one makes a remake of the same film in the same language with same shots/direction. So obviously Madhuri will never act Sri's roles. But we can atleast compare similar roles they did.
Madhuri's forte is dance; that's it. In acting, she can at max make you cry well, but she cannot really make you laugh whole movie, and obviously she cannot act uncommon roles similar to Sadma, Mr.India, Chaalbazz etc. So stop biased thinking when you try to judge.

Madhuri's comedu sucks..watch Raja for that.Dunno how she got nominated for dat.But then,even Aishwarya has around 10 or more Filfare nominations.Madhuri could never do SADMA,nagina,laadla,LAMHE,JUDAAI,CHAALBAAZ,KHUDA GAWAH etc. where as Sridevi could do better every role Madhuri did , except may be Devdas.

Sujata is an ARROGANT DUMBO..I pity all the people around her..Madhuri was always known for her jhatkas and matkas.It's only in some movies she acted really well.Madhuri over acted in RAJA,YAARANA,Aansoo Bane Angaarey etc..I am not a big fan of Sridevi either but looking at her performances in SADMA,nagina,laadla,LAMHE,JUDAAI,CHAALBAAZ,KHUDA GAWAH,any one can say she is way ahead of Madhuri.And yes I agree,Sridevi over giggled in some movies but overall,she is much better. As for Madhuri taking over Sridevi,its like passing the torch from generation to generation...Sridevi ruled throught 1980s,so it was obvious that by mid-1990s,audience would want to see younger actresses on screen

And as for "Audience votes",well,do you really think people voted for Nandita as ahead of Kajol,Rani,Priyanka,Sridevi,Juhi etc. Nandita is a fine actress but 99% of the country is anware of her..so it can't be audience choice.OVER and out....quitting internet for the day

Madhuri acted well in all her movies. Everyone knows that. You probably do not understand acting that is why you say such crap, if you do not know her credentials or the acclaim she has then you are ignorant too. As for dancing, all top heroines were good dancers too. Sridevi did latka jhatka in all her films. She was known for her dances in himmatwala, justice chowdhury, tohfa, maqsad, nagina, mr. india etc. these are the films that made her star. Every actress of 80s and 90s have done dances and songs. Madhuri is outstanding as a dancer too because of her natural expressions. You have tried to defame Madhuri for 25 years now, what have you achieved!! Poor you! Your class is attacking females talking about period. You are uncivilized as well.

Jayaprada is the most beutiful and talented actress .... little planning in her career would have taken her far away.. like films like Nagina went to ridevi only ater Jayaprada rejected
Seriously people, this list appears to be an attempt is to divide North-South which is growing to an alarming proportion.This list is similar to the Actors list
Rediff should stop this insanity immediately.
Having said the above,let this so called critic who has prepared the list should see south indian movies to know what acting is and how the actor should act.
After all, over the period of year and till know, most of the Bollywood movies are the remake of south indian movies and the actors hopelessly, just ape south indian actors.
Present list of Ghajini,Dabaang,Ready,Singham,etc are all from south.

Its should renamed as TOP Bollywood actress altime list. Else not only south india whole world will spit on rediff naming the topic as "The Greatest Actresses of all time". Which may include Hollywood also.
(Just) Acting as Messiahs for Indians & fooling them on one hand, sweet talking with Pakistan for Muslim Vote Banks on the other & selling India off to US/ Vatican at the same time, unawares to all. It needs guts to pull such an act.
Indian cinema is not about hindi films only. No list is complete without great savitri. There are very good acresses in Tamil, telugu, kannada and malayalam. You should consider beyond hindi films. If not, change the title as 'The Greatest Hindi Actresses of all time' or scap this list.

Some people even say that she was serious contender for the top spot as far as singing is concerned , but due to some foulplay she lost her beautifull voice & a singing career & was reduced to playing clownish roles for utter survival
Do you all really believe Indian cinema is just about Hindi cinema..I agree its the biggest of the lot..but dont u think this guy Raja Sen should have considered Tamil, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi industries too..
