Quite a few - Nutan, Savithri, Revathy, Sridevi.. but the best from a pure acting point are none other than Smitha Patil and Shabana Azmi. One can also count in Deepti Naval for some artistic performances in eighties.
The were many great actresses par excellence in South India/Other regional language films; because of the language barrier and narrow mindedness coupled with politics, they were not recongnised adequately. Ofcourse this has been continuing till date.
The list dished out by the rediff does not give competent picture / analysis.
It is a parochial list with out the mention of Urvasi Saradha,Sri DEVI,Savithri,Sowcar janaki. But I am happy that the lousy hema malini is not in the list.
