This film of Amir Khan, has changed the Indian cricket indeed. What a film of getting self respect, motivation, enthusiasm and above all the whole scenario of Indian Cricket panorama
Gadar was an equally nice movie. Of course, the thing is people do not take Suny Deol seriously. What is worse is that they make fun of such a talented actor.
Some people even claim that Gadar was completely unrealistic while Lagan was very close to reality. Is that really ? By that logic, partition of India and people who died was probably not a reality. Similarly, a person (read Tara Singh here) missing his wife and son and then going all out to get them is also unrealistic, I believe. However, villagers forming a cricket team, beating the British and the hero of the movie doing a Miandad (last ball six) is indeed very very very realistic.

the storyline of gadar was very good, but to show Paki's as zombies when Sunny paaji plucked a borewell out of the ground to kill some zillion paki's though thrilling was not realistic.. but i agree with you, 2 movies that brought a lot of patriotic thinking..

There many films made like gadar before (based on partition indo-pak fight etc etc etc, complete chuttad giri), Lagaan was and IS First of it's Kind.
one of the defining films of indian cinema. hats off to the lagaan team - the film has stood the test of time, even a passing glimpse of a scene on tv today does not fail to grip despite innumerable viewings.

Lagaan is a time-less classic movie which can be seen and enjoyed even 50 years from now. It showed how Indians who came from diverse background working together and winning against the odds. The story is Indian and not copied from some western sources. It brought a lot of pride and honor to the Indian, those in India and also aboard.
