Rahman is a computer programmmer. He writes all the codes for his music and the computer convertes them into different instruments music. He then takes print out copy and gives it to the the musicians who play it.

Please note that computer music in 'punnagai mannan' was done by ARR (when he was working with IR) in that movie and never been projected by IR. That is the greatness of IR!!

if only he gave chance to other singers like a.r. did his name would have been firmly entrenched in the annals of music history. he ensured that his daughter got a national award for a very mediocore song which was unlistenble. the same year chitra sang a kannada song for deva for the move amrutha varshini. spb thought this was national award material. but the judges did'nt think so. and also illayaraja the composer was a far better artiste than illyaraja the singer. this was also one of the causes for his downfall from the pedestal.

Ilayaraja'a 500'th movie was "Anjali" , which was released in 1990. IR started composing music in 1996.In a 14 year span, he has composed 500 movies. Average of 36 movies per year, i.e., 3 movies per month , i.e., one movie in 10 days. Which means he has to write record the songs and bgm in just 10 days ., And those days, I guess most of them were recorded live..Even a layman knows he very rarely relied on synths . 99 % of his songs and bgms had original instruments playing in them. Considering the speed of his work and the quality of his music, its certain that his studious demanded only stalwarts. He needed people who can learn, grasp and execute his music at a lightening speed. No wonder he stuck to SPB, S.Janaki, KJ yesudhas and K.S.chitra...for the same…After 1992 , the number of movies came a bit down, and he did, and still gives opportunities for many singers…

illayaraja nevee fell from the pedestal..he is still the best in business...'mayil pola' was apt for bhavadharini and it was a good song too...tats y it got national award...illayaraja has no influence like others in national awards commitee..don make loose comments...

"Not giving chance for other singers?"

Tell me how many singers from current crop is capable of singing an entire song in a single stretch and without using computer voice modulation.
