Kites is a brave experiment to penetrate west audience beyond NRI's. Normally Hollywood movies also don't have any stories only stunning stunts scenes, cinematography and special effects makes movie Hit. Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori is impressive. Very good effort as compare Hollywood Movies.

Lots were expected out of the Anurag Basu & Hrithik combo. But the final result is confused handling of a weak story.
Good Points: 1. Conscious effort to break away from the standard bollywood mould. 2. Hrithik & Barbara with their above average screen presence emoted well 3. The language part has been manipulated with consummate skills - it added to the charm of the movie (or whatver charm there was) 4. Good cinematography 5. Songs and dance sequences added to the flow instead of slowing the movie down
Bad Points 1. Too much of Hrithik. Were there any other characters apart from Hrithik and Barbara? 2. The close ups were just too many and too slow. That fact that Hrithik can act need not have been re-inforced with Hrithik's facial expressions capturing the screen in almost every frame. 3. This movie once again emphasizes the importance of a good story line and a good script. Time now for film industries across the world to invest in writers and not just on directors and actors. 4. Anurag Basu definitely was tentative in handling the scope of the movie. May be, this being his first big budget movie, he was a bit over-awed. His slick story telling capacity was seldom there in this movie. 5. Hrithik's english was definitely non las-vegan.

Don't think so buddy. It may just break even. The other purpose for which the movie was made - to showcase Hrithik for Hollywood... it has backfired. And thats really sad cause the guy is just too good. Guess a classic case of mis-handling of extra-ordinary talent by casting him in a movie which does not have a good story to tell.

I have one comparison to this story of Kites. Its like power cut during a climax. We expect something more is to be seen and we see the Names at the end. Tried to make a hollywood style moving keeping an eye on the OSCARS. But Mr. Basu we Indians are used to SAS-BAHU serial where there is definetly a good story even if it is revolving around the same concept. We should understand more than technology story sells in Bollywood. Roshans are known for their out of pack stories and not out of the pack themes. Barbara is seriously great actor which pulls our eyes to her face and not to her lucious body. thats like HELEN(but cant compare with her. she is queen.) Hritik must have been given more foot taping dance numbers to catch the already bored audience.His first number indicates why he is the best dancing actor in the world.

People have taught the chadis a good lesson in last elections we don’t need to teach them anything now
Had this movie been directed by Mr. Rakesh Roshan; it would have been much better. The movie had the potential to become one of the best love stories ever but story was weak; and so was the script!
Hrithik & Barbara had good on screen chemistry and both gave a nice performance.
Climax could have been better and movie could have been slightly lenghtier (about 15-20 mts more) in terms of the love angle between two.
