I agree that the memorial section was poorly produced & about Neil Patrick Harris' lackluster opening number. That said - even Ben Stiller admits his Avatar-shtick bombed. And Steve Martin/Alec Baldwin were the best hosts the Academy Awards has seen in years. (and George Clooney's deadpan reactions to the duo jibes was planned.)

though kathryn won for best director, avatar should have won for best picture. even she was surprised when she won for best picture.

& those who actually woke up, what do they do now ?

wouldn't it have been better for u to post this article a day before the oscars.

rediff find some good articles, even if it requires outsourcing, cause the ability of ur staff, to give good articles, is long lost

Just becos more people watched it this time that doesnt make this years show better than previous ones. avatar and 10 films selection created a lot of hype for this years oscars.

oscars 2010 got high TRPs
by Amit Gaikwad on Mar 10, 2010 02:17 PM

Once again its proven that the "so called" critics and public think in opp. direction. This years oscars attracted more than 41 million viewers in US alone, a 12.5% jump from last year and making this the highest watched oscar show in last 5 years.
Mr. Sen doesn't have the authority or talant to question the highly talented Mr Martin & Mr. Bladwin.

A loser is envious of winners ....

A loser is envious of winners ....

Bravo.. how did you watch bollywood filmfare? How can you watch something you claim as stupid? You must have drunk. Anyway, you should be a brave man/woman to watch such a damp squib show(filmfare) on earth. Filmfare is not an award show but a dance show. How the hell you can compare Oscar & bollywood filmfare? You belong to a losers club because, you are one of those losers who thought "avatar & up in the air" will sweep the oscars. Since your predictions are shattered you are envious of winners. "The hurt Locker" deserved every bit of oscar. However, I agree "George Clooney" had an edge over Jeff. George Clooney deserved to get one.

Not a good review
by LEJU KUNJAPPY on Mar 10, 2010 12:14 PM  | Hide replies

A good reviewer is someone who can stifle personal bias even while taking the reviewee apart. The sad thing about this review is that it reeks of inconsistency and bias. Its a critique written for the sake of one. Noone after watching both the Filmfare and the Oscars can ever think the former was more watchable than the other. Looks like Mr Sen caught the rushes instead of the whole show.

Not saying the show was the greatest, not by a long margin, but it wasn\'t as bad as he\'s made it to be. You can always argue about the choices, but there\'s a certain inevitability about the final award winners that you can\'t avoid in this mutli-award-multi-media world that we live in these days. The Oscars was and always has been more than just a award ceremony.
