I have been reading rediff articles since a long time but off lately it is surprising to note that most of the views aired at this website do not match anyone else`s. I have often been shocked to find that the movie i liked good, the critics on our channels found good, the people found good. Rediff found it bad. And not just one or two cases but so many of them. I mean its like rediff wants to sensationalise the things now. I am sorry to say that though there are extremely good articles on rediff to read but their are more of baised ones these days. I hope some one listens to this and if i am wrong corrects me and if i am right, then corrects rediff.

A rediff readers

One personal attack too many
by Synicle on Mar 09, 2010 06:06 PM

It really comes across as Raja Sen is making ad hominem attacks on Bigelow because his favourite Tarantino didn't win at the Oscars. Or anywhere for that matter. And really, that doesn't detract anything from the fact that QT is a brilliant director. Similarly a condescending attitude towards a worthy winner won't detract anything from Bigelow, but surely puts the writer in bad light.

She made a ballsy film and we should acknowledge that. Why hold the fact that she is a 59 year old "chick" against her?

Even a pretense at being objective would be appreciated.

Dude. Did you even watch all the Oscar movies. And if you did, your taste in movie sucks big time.
The Oscar show might not have been as good as last year's and Martin and Baldwin might not have lived up to expectations that were there after Jackman extravaganza last year.

But barring a few awards, rest all were well deserved.

And FYI, The Blind Side rocked!

Don''t fully agree
by Deepak Chauhan on Mar 09, 2010 05:42 PM

Well, yeah the award function were abit boring as compared to last year and preceding years. But what I really like about Oscar's Awarding ceremony is the classic way of presentation and honest decisions. You may keep on having fun watching Filmfare, but still Oscars is what you'll always dream for.
Everything written is fine. But when you say Hurt Locker wasn't as deserving, I'll not agree with you. And what I really didn't like in your write-up is the sentence- "And that a chick made it"... Chick??? Oh, I forgot, it's written by Raja "Sen" who's never "Sane". And now that I know who wrote this down, I won't say more.

A loser is envious of winners ....

Bravo.. how did you watch bollywood filmfare? How can you watch something you claim as stupid? You might have drunk. Anyway, you should be a brave man/woman to watch such a damp squib show(filmfare) on earth. Filmfare is not an award show but a dance show. How the hell you can compare Oscar & bollywood filmfare? You belong to a losers club because, you are one of those losers who thought "avatar & up in the air" will sweep the oscars. Since your predictions are shattered you are envious of winners. "The hurt Locker" deserved every bit of oscar. However, I agree "George Clooney" had an edge over Jeff. George Clooney deserved to get one.

The oscars were kinda boring! but have to disagree on several things. Avatar is spectacularly lame and 'hurt locker' truly deserved the awards it got. Why is it safe to give it to a chick after 82 years? and clooney was acting like a spoilt brat because all the buzz about "up in the air" died much before the ceremonies...and since you're gushing so much..you must be a chick too..grow up!

Avatar is best movie to date.
It is also at par with Hindu ideology.
Ours is also a religion which developed from nature, worshiping animals and plants and revering them. and not imposed from above.
Also it was a spectacular wonder, never seen before.
So it satisfied both my imagination and ideology, touched heart.
It is better represantation of Indian ideologies that that slumdog movie.

Why in a discussion about movies should we be confronted with raving religious lunatics like you shashwat? seriously? a name like avatar and a big frigging tree..that's all...enough to touch your heart? expand that limited imagination of yours...or maybe not..you compose the largest chunk of james cameron's audience...you wouldn't want to disappoint him now..would you?
