I think Vik needs to work on his hindi, he looked really uncomfortable in Ravan, he is a lot better actor than what he delivered, and somewhere i feel he dint have the confidence while speaking the language

Pseudo directors and their half boiled thoughts !!!
by globalian on Jun 21, 2010 12:00 PM

In this entire world of epics, how come 'Ramayan' alone inspires the great director Maniratnam? He was previously inspired by 'Mahabaratha' ( Even he has copied the scenes in Mahabaratha such as Kunthi Devi sends her son born out of illegal relationship in a box which he could have avoided exact copy ) in his previous tamil movie - Thalapathi. He might want to depict the ten head Raavan for 10 different personalities. This might be his one line idea behind the inspiration of this film. Akira Kurasawa film's also works on various plot and registers the human emotions. But they are well knit with social problems and they were well discussed. These pseudo directors are half educated in this.

Why Mani is a Sir?
by Gotchi on Jun 21, 2010 10:41 AM  | Hide replies

Why do all these inferiority complex filled people call Mani Sir?

And he seems to gloat with a humble face.

What the hack Mani has done till now. He has very average track record in Hindi. Dilse and Bombay were very good. Roja lost its meaning in Hindi Guru sucked. There is a gross inferiority filled people in South it seems. No one calls Yesh Chopra, Prakash Ja, Gulzar, Hrishikesh Mukharjee, RRGV, Subhash Ghai, Raakesh Roshan, Sanjay Leela Bhansali who have made far better movies then Mani.

Southies in south are so full of pseudo modesty. On the face they act so humble, showing that any moment they will fall at your feet calling people sir and make really pitiful faces. Just to back stab them later.

Bachchans are flop brigade
by rehan ansari on Jun 21, 2010 10:01 AM  | Hide replies

Big Bs brigade is now a flop brigade. Once there was a time when Big B's films used to be released in 15-20 single screen theatres and even his flops used to score sound good. But now he is giving disasters in the form of eklavya, aladdin, rann, teen patti, nishabd etc etc.

Abhishek can never be treated as a hero coz he doesn't look like a hero. He is a disaster.

Aishwarya is unable to give any hits from last 3 years.

Raavanan- Yet again glitches in Editing
by Snthil Anantharaman on Jun 21, 2010 08:40 AM

A realistic modern day portrayal of characters of ramayana is an audacious task in india and mani has done it yet again with style. Vikram truly and ingeniously plays the role of veera a.k.a raavanan greatly....... no words to describe his acting prowess and so is aish who truly mesmerizes in the role of ragini a.k.a modern day seeta. The other real heroes which keeps this 2hrs 17 minutes film glued to the screen are techies manikandan/santosh sivan and a.r.rehman. The film Climax right from the fight sequence on the bridge to the end of movie keeps one emotionally entangled specially in knowing what is going to happen to the characters of veera and ragini. On the whole, the midas touch of maniratnam is still not lost in the movie since 25 years where his humble beginnings began. Except for some glitches in editing once again after guru's glitches, (well mani has to get back to SureshURS) CHEERS...... to the whole crew.
