When you put down a good thing (movie) which other (millions of) people like, your ego (Silva) gets a boost. But you (should) also lose your job because you are not doing the right job. Be a janitor Silva. I am now ashamed of calling Rediff a good Indian portal. Because it is only Indian, no longer good. Rediff forces us to go to other websites/portals for good stuff!
The review is good. Critic tries to tell about the movie without ruining the surprise. I have seen the movie. I am a decaprio fan but i have to admit this movie below average. cud have been really good had the ending was different.
Rediff is crazy to allow posting of an insane critic. Shuter island standards are way above than what bollwood movies are made. I am sure the critic is very sub standard or is used to watching typical hindi movies.
Critic has no business giving misleading review to readers, rediff better fire this critic than allow her personal view to be posted.
Is the reviewer out of his mind. This was one of the best movies in a long time. The way the story unfolds and the way the suspense holds till the last frame is the work of a genius.
Shutter Island is a gripping, suspense edge-of-the-seat thriller from the first reel to the last one. Great direction, sound effects and fine acting performances by all the main characters especialy Di Caprio make it a must watch...undoubtedly one of the best English films of 2010.
People have a lot of criticism for Raja Sen (most of it well-deserved)but in my opinion this guy, Elvis D'Silva is an even bigger idiot than Raja. Elvis has abosolutely no clues whatsover of reviewing suspense movies / thrillers...he gave a similarly low rating for 'Valkyrie' last year, when that was another eminently engrossing (well directed and enacted)movie from the beginning till the end.He should be removed by Rediff forthwith as he has repeatedly displayed absolutely no judgement or class in reviewing high quality films.
Shutter Island is another classic from Martin Scorcese....almost as good as The Departed...and should defintely not be missed by those who like to watch suspense thrillers. Watch it in a cinema hall to enjoy the full experience as sound effects play a crucial role in the film.
In my opinion, the movie deserves 4 stars (3.5 stars bare minumum) out of 5 !

I agree with you. I think people like Elvis are trying to prove that they are good movie critics by criticizing everything. Overall rediff has lousy movie critics.

I agree....The film is very very gripping...I didn't see the movie just to watch DiCaprio...I was watching a "movie"...And as a "movie", I would say that this one is Scrocese master-piece...A must watch...

Jamal..this nitwit imbecile Elvis is about the last person who should be so-called "reviewing" a film by the master artist, Scorcese. It is well above his mental faculties, and childish tastes to do justice to the film which is borne out by his laughable rating at the end.
