Sukanya varma is a kiddo. Raahman-Mani combination is not always hit. Remember 'Thiruda Thiruda'.. eventhough music was awesome, it was an utter flop. get ur stats right before posting something so confidently.

Music not being commercially successful doesn't mean it's no good. Mani brings out the best of Rahman. Final!

Did you read my message? I said music is great. patience!!! I am commenting about Sukanya's thumb rule judgement.

Have you heard Thiruda Thiruda music? Its another masterpiece album of Mani-Rahman. Dil Se was a box office failure, but the music is still celebrated for years to come. Yuva was a flop, but the music is loved.
I would request the Rediff team to send Miss Sukanya Verma's brain for some stability checking. How come she identified the songs in this movie for a rating 4 !!. This lady must be mad. The songs really sucks.. and lots of places you could see repetitions of ARR's same old worthless tunes.

You are absolutely correct.Nityananda is caught finally.
The last time A R Rahman came out with a genuinely great album was with Gentleman! Everything else ran on hype... Post Gentleman, there has not been a modern day classic from Rehman. Maybe, Sangamam was a decent compilation.... but nothing great.
As for Mani Ratnam... the lesser said the better... Except for Iruvar, when has he come out with a "complete" movie? Except for a few like Mouna Ragam, they all falter by the end. Mani never knew how to take a story to its logical conclusion... In almost every movie of his, we were left with the feeling that Mani didn't know how to end it...

so after Gentleman nothing great from Rahman. I think you have not heard any albums- Taal, zubaida, swades, i will not agree with your comment.

I have listened to all of them... none of them have any authenticity in them...
Swades has some decent scores like Yeh Tara and Yunhi Chala chal... but they all lacked the charisma of a great score...
Like I said, one song or two clicking is different from the entire album being a classic.
The movie Uzhavan had a nice song... all the other songs were totally drab. Likewise, Sangamam had a couple of nice songs... but the entire album was not a great hit...

Hi Menon, why bore all of us and get the hell out this website ? You obviously have fine musical taste and so just go ahead and listen to you favs from Mozart/Bach/beethoven and maybe kunnakudi vaidhyanathan/ms/semmangudi srinivasa iyer etc. Just give us a break, will you ? The majority ( who, much to your surprise, I am sure) also know their music. And they think AR rocks in Raavan. Got the drift, buddy ? Now, lay off.

For all other great work by Mani... just remember Kannathil Muthamittal... you will never feel like posting such a comment.

Is it? what about lagaan, dil se, Taal, en swaasa kaatre.. Minsaara kanavu... k@nnathil muthamittan... i think all thes are far ahead than Gentleman.. dude the music changes..and he is a guy who loves to experiment..monu manasilaayo...?
Re: Re: Rahman

Kannathil Muthamittal may be a technically brilliant movie... but for the theme and the typically simplistic rendition of a complex problem, the movie could have been a good one...
