That's Very Bad
by ravi indian on May 26, 2009 12:30 PM  | Hide replies

Thanks for this information. But I am not bother about this so called national anthem because I don't believe this one as national anthem. This is verse written in praise of then king of Britain when he was coming to India. Why Rabindra Nath Tagore got Noble Prize? Only because of this song and the king of britain was the member of that jury who recommended the noble prize. If any song which is called national anthem the it is Vande Matram and this song was only created for freedom fighters at that time.

It was Jawahar Lal Nehru who chosen this Jana Gana as National Anthem only to woo the laurels of the king of britain. And he was only person who favoured this song as National anthem in place of Vande Matram. He wanted only this song and threatened that if his choice will not be accepted then he will resign.

Thats all

Regards
Ravi

Ravi, your knowledge is very limited. Even you don't know the spelling of Nobel Price. You might have thought that it is awarded to some NOBLE. Sure you are a frog in the pond

Dear Ravi,

You need not to prove that you are an idiot. You dont know Tagore, his level of creation. Little learning is a dangerous thing.

Tagore wrote many songs as if love between man and women but all of them were meant love between human and god.

When Tagore was alive people started criticising him. He replied immediately like other songs its directed to gods not to any human being.

Why he got nobel prize??? If you wish to get taste of this world, any rythem and composition any part of india, listen to his songs, very simple and novel. Read his thoughts, comments on ideal education system. They are the best.

Rediff board is mostly crowded with uneducated people like you, who come here to show knowledge.

I agree that Vandemataram was insulted and rejected only because it had a word hindu and BJP revived its honour in 1998 when they came to power.

But Jana Gana Mana is the supreme lord, of course "nirakar" Bramha god because Tagore was Bramha by religion.

I agree Rahul.
Tagore came out and said that a mortal human being, irrespective of how powerful he/she may be, cannot be Bharat Bhagya Vidhata. The fate of the country is not in the hand of an individual, but the collective that he refers to as the supreme power. The national anthem was not even sung for the first time when the queen and king came to India. Those of s, who are ill informed, please check Wiki for the same.
Unfortunately, some of us here do not understand poetry. Heck, we don't even try to find out things for ourselves.

First understand it is not Noble Prize, it is Nobel Prize.
Tagore sang this song himself and told he is not mad to write a song for some English king. Remember he is the only "Knight" who surrendered that knighthood to the English after Jalinwalabag murders after an open attack published in English Press. No other Knlght/Sir of unified India had that guts.
Bankim Chandra Chatterjee wrote Vande Mataram, the tune we are so used to listening to it and is the real ornamentation of that song is Rabindranath Tagore.
Just remember how he took the lead in the movement against Lord Carzon's Bengal Partition attempt in 1905.
Tagore was nominated for Nobel Prize by two other poets Ezra Pound and Yeates. The Westerners could not imagine a book like Geetanjali can be existing where Tagore appeals to Lord to take his motherland to that place where the head is held high and the heart is without fear.
Todays's lillyputs talk of Tagore. We the Indians are ungrateful enough to criticize a person like Rabindranath Tagore who openly criticized both Nazi and Japanese imperialism and single-handedly made a university.
For idiots saying something bad about Rabindranath is a pastime.

SC ruling on RGV
by bhujanga subannachar on May 26, 2009 12:23 PM

RGV,Amitabh Bacchan,Gul Panagare great celebrities who do not fall under normal catagory of Humans of Indian democracy. They make and act in their films at their wish and will and impose on Indian citizens and enjoys the monitory & popularity benifits. Nation can not question them on any issue whatever the merit be because whatever such celebrties do is always patriotic and for the national service. IT IS UNFORTUNATE THAT our highest counrt has put stricture at this hour. Why can't madam Italia rescue these celebrty greats from such unpolular stricture. Jai Ho slum God spirits.

hope there is no new controversy
by nitesh shah on May 26, 2009 12:18 PM  | Hide replies

I hope there is no new controversy created by what I am writing here. The original choice for the National Anthem was Vande Mataram and not Jana Gana Mana..... but due to a bunch of the politicians then, the latter was chosen. The latter was written in honour of the King and Queen of England when they were supposed to visit India during the British Rule and it was only to please the people who had enslaved the nation. Vande Mataram has more of patriotism. I am a unknown person and hence this will not create a controvery, but still I would like to show my fellow Indians what the truth is and not to waste their time in these controversies. Also after hearing the song, I can say that RGV has not distorted it. I too respect the National Anthem even after knowing the truth and also stand up whenever it is played unlike other people like Lalu and Rabri who don't bother to pay their respects and still they are untouched because they are politicians. So I request the SC to stop slamming RGV as he has done nothing wrong. Instead of paying attention on this small issue, why not look after the more serious criminal issues which are not being taken care of.

Vande Mataram was by Bunkim Chandra Chatterjee. As already pointed out in the replies here, Jana Gana Mana was forced to be made the National Anthem. That is because of people like Rabindranath Tagore and Jawaharlal Nehru. Please note that I am not a fan of Ramgopal Varma.

It is a pity that leading lawyers like Kapil Sibal,Manu Singhvi and now Arun Jaitley defend dubious causes and persons when they profess to be nationalists. How can Jaitley now criticise MF Hussain for indecent paintings of Hindu goddesses when he himself is pleading for RGV against the national anthem.
