Do you have any idea how much a house cost in Bombay? Whatever is claimed by Danny Saab, the kids haven't been paid that much to buy a house anywhere near Mumbai. It is difficult to by a a house in any major city in India even for an accompolish professional. Such is the condition in India.

The rediffmail has highlighted this issue just becoz, this demolition consist of an oscar winning movie star Rubina, i wanna know like how how many more demolition issues has been taken coverage of, and what is the result of this coverage, i advise people to use their common sense rather than debate on this issue, just for 2 days people will remember this and later forget this, the reason is same we heve to accept what we have, A government sometime waken up and sometime sleeping

Should have thought of the news that will spread in outer world.
by Munish Ohri on May 20, 2009 06:07 PM  | Hide replies

I agree that Railway Police must have done its job. There is no second thought to it. But they must have at least thought of the news that will spread once Rubina's house is demolished. Today we are living in the open world and the news will quickly spread that the star child of an Oscar wining film is homeless. People overseas do not understand the encroachment problems. The impact will be bad in the eyes of outsiders. Authorities musy have at least taken care of her belongings or should have provided alternate arrangement before taking any action. Now there will be a list of rich foreigners who will be willng to donate money or provide some shelter to Rubina.
We should think this differently in a way that the foreign individuals are doing something which Indian government could not do.
Why authorities did not think of this question before razing her house?

You are so concerned about what overseas people think that you have lost sense of what is law and what is against the law. Dont worry. Rubinas family will capture another footpath or public vacant lots. If it comes to the crunch Priya Dutt or Sanjay Nirupam or Abu Azmi will take her in their house

sivajibhai you Mr are an idiot. If your family was thrown out in the slums you would probably end up "encroaching" land as well. But I guess you would be happy hoping Sanju bhai will come and rescue you.

by sivajibhai on May 20, 2009 06:05 PM  | Hide replies

Bottomline!!! Ask her and her family if they are secular? Ask the other people also from her commmmmmunnnity if they are secular?
If your houze is razed pak ur bags and go and live in priya dutts home or abu azmi or maybe sanjay nirupam. They will take you in.

slums
by Sharang Managoli on May 20, 2009 05:53 PM  | Hide replies

Slums look bad whenever we take flights from Mumbai...they ruin the landscape of Mumbai...They form an entire patch of filth to ruin the aerial view of Mumbai... It gives the impression that India is all about slums..
To make Mumbai a metro, Slums have to be eliminated completely... The rich residents of Dharavi who chose to live in slums to avoid taxes and continue their lucrative business of begging can be accomodated at a different place!
Congress can at least do that for them!
