Nice review of this movie on Bollywoodtakes by Raju Shanbhag and funny too.. Bobby's "ek" expression was the culprit.

Movies need not always be about different or unpredictable storylines, they can be very predictable and as yet be fun, like the Telugu version of Ek. Athadu was a hit film not because of the storyline but because of Trivikram's direction, his apt dialouges and superb nativity. The charecter was written for Mahesh Babu and no Bobby Deol can substitute for it. One is sure Sangeeth Sivan might have got it all wrong in the Bollywood version... Can anyone just replace the inimitable Brahmanandam and the rest of the Athadu team? One other reason the film did well was because of Mani Sharma's music, no such scope in Ek. Despite the fact that Athadu was not a bigcommercial hit, on the DVD and CD sales it is an all time favorite and is one of the best Telugu films which all Telugu auidnces just adore and love . PERIOD.

Man.. Your Athadu might have been a Hit in Andhra but Bollywood stars cater to national audience (thats y u are writing in this forum). So please don't draw comparisons here

dude, it depends on the director. Telugu 'Athadu' was made by a very good director with some great sequences. In hindi the director may have screwed up the movie.

Tell me what is so national about Bollywood stars except that they speak the national language, so many of the Bollywood movies are a pain, I prefer watch Telugu movies and some of the off beat Hindi movies like Bheja fry or Khosla Ka Ghosla!!

All I can say is Huge difference in Regional Audience and National Audience. So same cannot be catered to both sections. One can be hit in regional at the same it will be utter flop show in National. So Jai sa desh waisa bhesh.

In Andhra lot of movies were hit which were made on Rayalseema and cudapa violence but if you try a remake of Anthampuram to Shakti...it wont work...people from delhi, bangalore, bombay may not like too much violence.
So that is the difference.

dude..do u even read before replying?? "Clear Idea" clearly mentioned nativity factor..Trivikram Srinivas's hugely talented dialouge writer..prob the best in telugu rite now..if u've seen Athadu..the start was brilliant..and then middle part...bramhi, sunil's comedy is terrific..not to forget the dialouges..and the climax was aktly inspired by End of Days movie..but it was shot very innovatively..overall Athadu was technically very well made movie...and yes telugu guys cud connect to it.

dude, i think it is waste to discuss abt all. Telugu n tamil movies may be hit for their audience but always proved boring and flopped for the national audience specially hindi audience. One or two may be an exceptions.

Mr.Sachin Guha if you had watched Athadu, you would not say this.Let me tell you that Athadu was not just liked by telugu audiences but also few hindi guys who stay in hyderabad.I do agree that the story was inspired from a hindi movie.but it was just an inspiration.if that is not the case y would it be remade in hindi again.you guys dont know how to remake a film as it is and as a consequence you end with a damp squib like Ek.

well did i say that.i know that bollywood movies are intelligent and have good technical values.but you dont know that good movies are coming in south too.you guys think that only stupid movies are made in south.frankly speaking, yes.that was true.previously that was the fate of south films.but things have changed now.have you seen a brilliant picture anniyan.ghajini was remade into hindi and if you watch the original you will definitely praise surya.'sunday' was a remake of anukokunda oka roju(another intelligent picture if you watch only the original).'its my life' is getting remade into hindi.what i wanted to say is good movies are also coming in south, which were liked by bollywood directors and remaking them.

true monika........but wat i wanted to say is still the movies which are leaving their remarks is Hindi movies not others. Directors of Hindi movies may take plot or idea from others that is the unique nature of an artist, but still ...................

So you meant to say that though a movie was remade into hindi, hindi picture made a remark.that's because everyone in india can understand hindi.if tamil or telugu were known to everyone in india, definitely south films would also have made those remarks.and let me tell you, aamir's ghajini was frame to frame copy of tamil ghajini.it wasnt just an inspiration or implementing an idea.you may say that ghajini's director was the same one in the both the versions and that is why it was a complete copy.but why had aamir let him copy.because that movie was fantabulous.all i wanted to tell is south films are also equally good.and i am not against any hindi movie.

The shoot-the-CM plot was copied from Tumko Na Bhool Payenge(Salman Khan ,Diya Mirza,Sushmita Sen) to Athadu(Mahesh Babu,Trisha).

Now how does it make sense to copy back the same plot into Hindi with Ek !!

i have seen the telugu version(even that was not a great film) and i dont intend to waste my time on a bobby deol film.
he is a useless actor (though i liked gupt, thanks to kajol).i happened to see CHAMKU and belive me i couldn't sit through for 10 mins.this guy don't have a script sense for sure.wondering how abhay deol got such a different taste despite being a deol.

Basic premise of the telugu movie 'Athadu' itself was copied from 'TumKo Na Bhool Payenge'. If you guyz remember watching the movie - u shud know by now who actually shot the minister and how the hero got into trouble :) lol.. I haven't watched 'Ek' - but I am pretty sure its a dumb movie

Just because you saw some common element in two movies does not mean that it is copied. Think like a grown up man..!
