Remakes badly made
by ChiranjeeviVamsiKira Lakey on Mar 29, 2009 12:53 AM  | Hide replies

i guess that would be the definite reason in this case.
"Athadu" is a nice entertainer.. dialogue, direction, screenplay, songs.

Though loosely based on "Assassins",was a story interweaved with Romance, sentiment, comedy and action.

Someone commenting on south indian films... well if one has to comment on the kinda of movies being made in Bollywood.. if south is making action movies repacked and repacked, I can say that bollywood films are the best repackers churning out outrageous mindless senti"Mental" stories. And a quite handful percent copied or rather "INSPIRED" from flicks all over the world.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai -> Jack and Sarah
Ugly Aur Pagli -> My Sassy Girl {Korean and Hollywood(remake)} -> quite sure u would puke if you see the Hindi version

and to people complaining the numerous action flicks and gravity-defying action sequences from the south indian film industry...

I think you need to be reminded of one of the biggest hits in Bollywood about a decade ago...

GADAR - Ek Prem Katha.... {banged my head to the wall umpteen number of times watching the movie.. and was wondering how I was still alive having seen the entire movie.. woosh!!!}

I think that one movie would break away all the records of the gimmicks and tricks of action sequences from Rajinikanth and vijaykant movies...

If Ek is a flop.. obviously.. because.. when a film is remade with an actor who can barely act/dance and the story line or screenplay badly written/modified... what do you expct

Do you know that Ugly Aur Pagli is the official remake as the remake rights have been purchased from the original Korean movie.

There's been a lot of messages which seem to convey that bollywood movies are made in freakin heaven and south indian movies in... But if you take the case of two of the biggest hits of bollywood....Sholay, a remake of Magnificient seven, which's a remake of 7samurai and Ghajini=south Ghajini=Memento. Anyone who says Ghajini is loosely inspired by Memento is definitely suffering from memory loss!

ALL these I was of opinion that Bollywood movies are far superior to South movies.Like every law has exception, this case too has. When the telugu version stayed above their standards, this hindi movie falls way below normal standards. Narration and screenplay was very gripping in Telugu which is barely seen in Hindi. I think Santosh Sivan tried to emulate Murugadoss (Director-Ghajni, again a south Indian) but falied miserably

I would request you to come down south and a make a movie in Telugu. I would like to see the success you are going to achieve. Please don't sit in a corner of a room and make some brazen comments about Telugu movies. It is pretty obvious that you haven't seen or rather you chose not see any Telugu movie because of your stupid presumptions.

This Movie is like a South Indian Movie. Tamil and Telugu films( Most of south Indian films) has only actions. The south Indian people only like action of one HERO killing 1000 of villains,Even if 100 bullets are hit to hero he will not die.(which is Highly Impossible in real life). Also the Hero might be a Rowdy but he will Not die at all and Rowdy Hero will also have a Girlfriend( Best Joke) whom the villains will kidnap her in Climax. If there is No action in movies then its a flop in south india. Grow up south Indians.

Bollywood used to have action movies in the 90s but lost track somewhere along the line. Since the Chopras and Johars rule the roost in Bollywood it is hardly surprising. These guys has been etching out effeminate characters and gay jokes and over the years have found success in cultivating the mindset of moviegoers according to theirs. So most Bollywood movies in the past decade or so has been catering to women and gays in particular. The advent of the multiplexes further enhanced this process and a section of the media ended up with the conclusion that action and violence wont work in Bollywood. However, the biggest grosser in Bollywood is a remake of a South Indian film called 'Ghajini'. In the south bloody violent action movies have a cult following and most of highest grossing movies are from that genre. Action heroes have millions of fans down south and their movies are greeted with huge enthusiasm. Yes, they do play macho rowdies and finds success because they reflect a huge chunk of the society. Sanjay Dutt is adept in playing 'bhai' roles and has done it a number of times. Had he been the superstar of Bollywood and Mahesh Manjarekar, Sanjay Gupta or RGV made more films with him, Bollywood too would have had more masculine movies to their credit.

I agree with you but in bollywood some action movies work.Whereas in south All the action movies work. 1 hero to 100 villian. Still continuously repeated in South Indian Movies. South Indian Action Movies will copy from hollywood. Gajini was a copy of Hollywood Movie "Momento" , So it became a Blockbuster in Bollywood. Also Mr Perfectionist Actor AAmir Khan acted . So it Became blockbuster. if other hero in bollywood would have done it, then it would be a hit. K

Yes, the basic premise of "Ghajini' was of 'Memento'. And there's no denying the Aamir factor.
Success of 'Ghajini's magnitude might be a one-time affair, but still there is room for action movies in Bollywood. Maybe 'Ghajini' was a good begining. Maybe it's a welcome break from movie titles begining with 'K'. 'Ek' might do good business in single screens and take the momentum forward. Much awaited Salaman starer 'Wanted' is slated for release this year too. Let's wait and watch.

Athadu is not an blam-splatter bang-ouch kind of action movie.the storyline looks like that.but what it showcases is completely different.it is a complete entertainer.in this movie a family mistakens the hero as their relative and accepts him.but later the hero realises that he missed lot of love and affection all these days and turns out to be a good man from a brutal professional killer.now you think this is unrealistic.and in this movie the hero could beat up few rowdies(not 1000)because he is fully trained.is this unreal.in the climax the hero fights with only one villain not 1000 again.is this unreal.those 1000 villain killing hero kinda movies have stopped coming nowadays.even i used to hate those movies.

There are good movies made in South which are not dubbed by stupid channels like Zee TV and SET MAX. These channels try to play in a niche and grab nonsense movies from south at throw away prices and forcibly air the stupid content on audice. Let's not make a standard opinion about South movies watching the dubbed versions aired by those useless channels. FYI, Don and Shivaji were utter flops in Telugu. Heavy promotion of those movies and large number of multipleaxes enabled producer's get their investment back.

i dont know how vijay did in gilli.it was a remake of telugu movie 'okkadu' which starred mahesh and in which scene did you find him hitting many.in that movie adventure starts when the hero hits the villain(only one again) and escapes from him.but he will be caught later by more than 1000 people.instead of hitting those 1000,he escapes cleverly from them without any fight.where did you find here 1 to 1000 beating PHYSICALLY.
and coming to dasavatharam, did you watch that movie,i dont remember kamal hitting 1000.there is only villain in this movie who is a foreigner and he gets beaten up by another japanese martial arts trained man but not kamal.the movie is about bio war but not 1 to 1000 hitting.most of the movies are like that only, but not like what you have described.

Means 1 hero many villains who come one by one..In Gilly when vijay is been chased by so many rowdies with sword in their hand , he even carries heroine in his arms and runs and hits all the villains . Only when he is surrounded with full of villians he escapes with plan.... In Dasavatharam also kamal in old age that fight scene.. You did not explained me about PoKiris, Sivajis
