What nonsense!!!!

"Danny Boyle knows that the quickest way to become a celebrity and win awards in the west is to peddle poverty and trash of India" If this were the case, then he would have made several such movies, and Slumdog would have got HUGe funding and publicity BEFORE it became a hit!

Fact of the matter is that Danny Boyle made a movie based on a well written script. And he's made the movie in his usual style. That the story is based on slums in India is incidental. The slums xcould have been anywhere in the world. The movie would still have been well made.

Btw, if you are so upset about the movie peddling India's poverty, why not roll up your sleeves and ERADICATE poverty. Bas, na rahega baas na bajegi bansuri....

No body else can eradicate poverty other than poor themselves. This is a Democracy and the when the poor realize the value of their vote rather than selling their votes for 500 buck or even less and allowing one party to rule for 60 years and take our country for a ride, poverty can be eradicated. Ofcourse others can do their bit by helping in educating them if they accept.

Go to America you will find worse things in Black colonies. Who dared to project that? It is unfortunate for India and Rehman that he got oscar for a second grade song (in comparison to his other much better works) used as an irrelevant casting song at the end of a second grade movie which has shown only gloomy side of our countries biggest slum. What is the summary of the film? - Indians learn great things by chance (in slumdog's way) and not by their heard work or brain.
We are still dancing with joy- Shame on us.
And yes- if if you don't agree don't use craps like 'nonsense' against others post to prove yourself some 'I know everything' guy. This only proves your limitations.

Slumdog at Oscars
by brajeshwar nath on Feb 24, 2009 11:32 AM

So the only palpable reason for you cheering slumdog has got nothing to do with the movie. But its more to do with how you were treated as kid by 'whites kids'and how you can now pump up your chest and say its about India. That sums up your indianness, sense of pop patriotism and all things abominable about indian diaspora which is lapping up a sick movie which has no cinematic excellence, performances all synthetic and wooden and superficial, and the worst part which indian media has forgotten about in its "kow tow the west" euphoria is that its so very superficial, does not smell of slums or poverty at all.Same was the case with that much forgotten hash made by Mira Nair ( salaam bombay) and Danny has attempted and reaffirmed my age old belief about these moviedom jokers - cut that hype and you would find shallow, self congratulatory, self conceited and ego centric bunch of manipulators and mediocres. And in this Anil Kapoor takes the cake.
And before you guys get lost in celebrations , remember, slumdog winning oscars has nothing to do with cinema but its attempt at wooing India- with good economuc growth, well spread market and democratic instituions that Americans are after. After all who wants to savour a badly made and acted movie if India was not shining.Trust me. Just see, if slumdog has won any award for performances. Now you can ask yourself?

Why Slum Dog?
by Sudeep Bhatacharya on Feb 24, 2009 11:01 AM  | Hide replies

Title of the film containing the word "SLUMDOG" is really ridiculous. What does it mean? Does it imply that the Indians leaving in slums are dogs?
And see the irony, all of us are rejoicing for getting Oscar for Indian Slumdogs

Open your eyes and look around. Don't middle class and rich Indians treat slum dwellers sometimes worse than animals? Did you watch the movie? When was the term 'slumdog' used in the film? WHen the policeman spoke to Jamal and asked how he a 'slumdog' could know answers that doctors/lawyers/engineers couldn't. Now try to imagine what language would a mumbai policeman use while talking to a slum dweller who is in custody for fraud. He'd be called names worse than 'slumdog'!!!

Oh What a Great Day it was !!
Lord Shiva showered his blessings on two Indian Muslims.. Even the Gods want India to remain Secular..
And what one of them "Pookutty" said about "OM" inspiring him was such a candid admission ..This shows that inspite of the hardliners efforts how secularism has worked wonders among the common masses..
Long Live Secular India !! All Gods Bless India ..
