Exactly.....this seemed to be a closed minded review....i seriousl had developed a grudge on Mr. Bala, for his film making skills. Gosh, wat an movie.....I think he knew only MAESTRO can give life to this movie, a right combo, struck at the right time. Wish the journey continues.

No, the review is absolutely spot on! Firstly, how can you expect someone to be"GOD"(Aham Brahmaasmi)when the guy doesn't even understand what love is? Just being there sitting and mumbling angrily doesn't make one God by any stretch of imagination. The idiot doesn't even understand that the purest form of love, the mother's love is far greater than anything else-even God comes secondary, yes,he does. And when the blind girl sings a very well known moving song to explain him what he has rejected, the creature simply picks up its staff and hits her!Oh yeah,so much for Aham Brahmaasmi! This is nothing but the alter-ego of the psychotic, one time drug-addict (self-confessed) Bala who has only ONE kind of protagonist in ALL his films - who is ALWAYS angry, ALWAYS violent, ALWAYS hates everything around, doesn't feel the need to explain his actions, more often than not doesn't act like a normal human being (the only exception being Surya in NANDA where he yearns for love from his mother, at least develops a love for an orphaned girl) - and the climax is a big let-down!!!What does he achieve by always being "on a high" with his ganja, without eating anything, is known only to THE REAL GOD(NOT Bala's fake god). However, the introduction scene & accompanying song of Rudhran and the moving "pichchai paaththiram" song picturised on the beggars are simply superb.Camerawork in Kaashi and the maruthamalai koyil is world class. Technically the film is simply excellent-but it lacks a soul!

Dear Vijay An aghora is someone who is free from all worldly attachments that includes the purest form of love you have mentioned. An aghora life is different from ours so it is difficult to transcend, hence it comes across as unacceptable to the normal people(us). You just cant expect an aghora sanyasi or for that matter any sanyasi to take up normal family life. Ganja has been used throughout history by philosophers, thinkers, artists, writers, sadhus etc, not just in India but across the world. So what Bala has potrayed is an aghora is his exact form. The film certainly has a soul but for us to understand it, we must first know what it is!! So all the best Vijay
great movie. mr. bala has given one of his masterpiece. the first song is great to watch and hear. so are the characters. wish him and request him to give more of these. full satisfaction for the amount spend on the ticket. thanx bala.
I saw the movie 'Naan Kadavul' yesterday and in my view this is the best tamil movie I've come across since 'Kannathil Muthamittal' by Mani ratnam. This one is honest to the core, executed to perfection and pure cinema at it's best.
The comment from the reviewer is rather surprising when it says that there is nothing in the screenplay to indicate what is going on in the mind of the protaganist. There are ample scenes in which it has been explained and the reviewer has failed to take notice of the same.
