Could rediff not adress the headline in a different way??????????
by rana ganguly on Apr 10, 2009 01:40 AM  | Hide replies

Shakti Samnta was one of the doens of Indian cinema in 60's and 70's and beyond.
Reporting the death of such an icon as "Noted filmmaker Shakti Samanta dies" is somewhat derogatory.
Can the headline be changed to "Shakti Samnta passes away"?

Apparently it seems that rediff is staffed by people whe are handicapped in the english language and social skills.

always famous pesonalites are known as noted that how it is said the article is not about shakti samanta it is about films made by shakti samanta because people wont remember shakti samanta as a person but he will be remembered through his films. so the headline is apt as Noted filmmaker Shakti Samanta dies

buddy, he didnt take offence to the word "Noted"; he very rightly took offence to the word "died" instead of "passes away"

Correct.. the word chosen by the correspondent for such a noted film maker is shameful.
Come on how can Rediff editors/ moderators be such insane to ignore the headline of the article.
That apart.. May Shakti Rest in Peace...
He has done a wonderful job to Indian Cinema and shall be remembered for his classics some of which turned out to be milestones..

The goal of all life is death. Whatever he is, he has to leave this world one day. This is universal truth.
May God give peace to his soul and reward him for all the good work he did on the earth by providing momentary happiness to millions.

The man projected the image of romantic hero of a young nation through the characters of Rajesh Khanna --in "Aradhana" with master story teller Sachin Bhowmick spinning the wave .Prior to that Shammi Kapoor romancing Sharmila Tagore through Europe was something young Indians couls only see on the silver screen those days.Converting the story of Gulshan Nanda in Kati Patang into a successful movie required the deftness of a master.Again ,choosing a Bengali story for Amar Prem and giving it a flavour to be acceptable for Hindi speaking audience required both courage and skill. The movie world has lost one of the doyens of mainstream commercial cinema.May his soul rest in peace.
