jaya- thakersay issue
by ashish jaorewalla on Sep 11, 2008 01:03 PM  | Hide replies

doesn't thakersay have anything better to do than force marathi down our throats? can't he instead devote his time & energy to improve the conditions of the roads ,footpaths, water shortage, garbage, slums, crime, rapes etc. even the roads &footpaths which are re-done are of poor quality . Can he please do these changes instead of causing disruptions in the city on stupid trivial issues. How is it important what languauge you speak ? To me actions should speak louder than words!!!!!!!!

It was not about who should speak which language. Its the words of choice by Jaya Bachhan that caused this. Being a public figure she should have been more careful when using words. Yes words do matter!

Immature Jaya
by nups on Sep 10, 2008 11:56 PM  | Hide replies

Everyone respects Big B, for he is a national icon. But Jaya is just creating more problems for him, She is so immature, her statement was clearly provocative, such actions are just strengthening the anti-north indian campaigns which is benefiting the thackery clan. Had she been sure of what she is talking, she would have never apologized. What a shame that such a irresponsible person is a MP, She should just keep her mouth shut that would help the Bachchan's more than anything.

this thakaray guy is a bufoon! Someone needs to go slap him silly and take all the air out of his ego. Who the hell does he think he is? He is not the savior of anything maharashtrian. Jaya Bachchan did not say anything provocative or offensive in her speech. Matter of fact, hindi should come first before any regional BS. I speak gujarati, but our national language should always be respected. This guy is a politician and he is the one keeps repeating provocative stuff to gain his vote bank. I wish we only had one language. None of this comical stuff would take place then.

mr patel do u have guts to slap raj thackerey. if jaya bacchan wants to speak in hindi she should speak. nobody had objected including raj thackerey to speak her in hindi. but why she said that hum toh upwale, hum hindi mein hi bolege. she doesn't no that hindi is first our national language then it is regional language of up, bihar and other northern states. if she had guts to say above words in bengal her forefathers land or in southern states and apoligies bengal etc for speaking in hindi.

my dear friend aditi we accept that we r narrow minded people. but the people of bengal from where the roots of jaya bacchan is more narrow minded than maharashtrians. i challenged u and jaya bacchan to say the words "hum toh upwale hai aur hum hindi mein hi bolege and hamein bengal key log maaf karna" in kolkata and then she what will be the reaction to this in whole of bengal from this small joke. definitely it will be worse than maharashtra

Who fought against Mughals and And the Islamic Rulers to save Hindu religion in (then) India?

Who fought to death at Panipat
for just protecting Hindus from the Afganistani Raiders ?

Who fought against the European slave trade western India ?

Who founded RSS to unite Hindus of India together under one flag ?

One state that has been most loyal to the Congress Party since independence ?

Which state has the biggest presence in the armed forces ?

The FACT is people of Maharashtra always have stood for a UNITED STRONG INDIA
They embraced all other communities of India as their own.
People came from NORTH AND SOUTH
prospered , but when it came to give back they always took it home to where they came from
Amitabh,P. V. Narasimha Rao are few big examples
There are thousands of Amitabhs
on in different cities of Maharashtra
People from north and south come to make money / careers.

Wake up Marathi people do not let other Indians take advantage of your hospitability and generosity?

That is because Mughals were not interested in settling in South India. They liked staying in only North India as all their palaces r in North and they only used to send their envoys to the South

Congress is to be blamed
by Aditi on Sep 10, 2008 09:52 PM  | Hide replies

Congress is silent spectator to this due to their own political benefits. Maharashtra government is not doing anything because they are supporting Raj indirectly and not doing it themselves. They r not taking any action otherwise Raj would had been behind bars. Central government is also not interested in interfereing and treating Raj a lesson.

Mr. nri manus you have not heard the whole sentence of mrs jaya bacchan. she said that " hum toh upwale hai hum to hindi mein hi bolege, maharshtra ke log humein maaaf karna" if she wants to speak in hindi she should bcos hindi is our national language and nobody will object to her inculding raj thackery and maharashtrians and she is promoting her film which is also hindi. but the statements that mujhe maaf karna maharshtra ke logo is hurting as it likes that we maharashtrians r opposing to hindi our national language.

i find it very hard to beleive that the govt of india is a silent spectator to the thackeray(s) and their openly intimidating speeches. For heavens sake, who are these people?Just ordinary citizens? or are they the self appointed custodians of maharashtrians?in any case, let them follow what ever they want but they have no bloody business intimidating people and suggesting arson.Mumbai is a part of India and anyone can come into and go out of mumbai at their will....imagine if all other cities in india were to flush out maharashtrians out of their state, then imagine the menace it would create in mumbai.Time and again we read the Thacks' referring to Tamil Nadu for its non hindi policies, lets be very clear that hindi is available to those who chose it in tamil nadu and theres no one forcing them not to learn it or to learn it for that matter.

Its sad that in a day and time when every individual has a right to make his own choices, the uncle and nephew team is hell bent on creating controversies and threatening people with dire consequenses.....Really sad! i think its time to ignore these people and let barking dogs bark!

Because the maharashtra govt knows that if they intervene, it will just add momentum to the entire thing. They don't want to play with the sentiments of the marathi people. People were hurt by that comment. If Jaya apologizes in front of media, things will be normal again. No one here is fighting for a separate country. If you can't show respect make sure that you don't at least show disrespect.

The Uncle and nephew team don't have anything to with India and its common man. they are cowardice who keep hiding in their birthplace unlike common man. A common man is bound by his earning oppertunities. He doesn't want to go in this kind of filthy political war between two immetured persons who have no credential to live a public life.I ask a simple question to all the People of Maharastra who are having sympaty with Raj. What are the qualifications of Raj which make him even a head of a political party?

Stop abusing each other, please.
by Guest on Sep 10, 2008 10:45 AM  | Hide replies

Everyone,

In the relative confines of a rediff forum that offers you anonymity, all of you are abusing each others languages, regions, and are not pausing for a moment to reflect on your shamelessness.

Mrs. Bachchan probably should not have said what she did. She has apologized for it. The entire Bachchan household works with more than 50 Marathi families and nearly all of their long time trusted associates are Marathi. Deepak Sawant has been Mr. Bachchan's make up artist for 37 years. He is on record that Mrs. Jaya Bachchan speaks to him in Marathi.

Mr. Amitabh Bachchan has close friendship with a number of Marathi actors, Ramesh Deo being one of them - their friendship started in the 70s when they did Anand together, and both Ramesh & Seema Deo are very good friends of Mr. Bachchan. In Ramesh Deo's upcoming movie, Amitabh has given a voice over, after Ramesh Deo made him a request.

So lets put the myth to rest that the Bachchan family is biased or prejudiced against Marathi.

Coming to some of the abusers on this forum, it is equally reprehensible to talk down or abuse all Maharashtrians or Marathi speaking people, and equate the MNS's chantings to the entire 12 crore population of Maharashtra.

Most of the visitors on this forum of rediff are programmers, developers and IT professionals. Your companies are paying you salaries for working hours; don't while away your time. (Before some smart aleck points out the same to me,let me mention i am self empl.)

AND THANKS FOR LETTING US KNOW THAT REDIFF IS FREQUENTED BY PROGRAMMERS AND DEVELOPERS AND IT PROFESSIONALS, AND IDIOTS LIKE YOU. THE REST ARE SELF EMPLOYED SO THET WILL GET A JOB ELSEWHERE, WHAT ABOUT YOU, U JUST HAVE TO SHUT SHOP AND START A DAIRY PROJECT MOST PROBABLY.

ha ha ha..
is this some kind of a joke when thackeray says "Mumbai gave identity to the Bachchans bestowing fame when they were an unknown commodity"

he is saying as if amitabh was sitting at his home and sleeping, eating and enjoying.....
and then suddenly people started recognizing him..and he got all the fame and money..

He worked hard for it...and he did not go to some other country...he came to Mumbai which is an INDIAN city...he did not need any passport or visa to go there....

Isn't this shameful that we complain about things like racism in foreign countries but we ourselves are driven by these things...

way to go....
