krishnan viswanathan
EXCELLENT ACTOR
by krishnan viswanathan on Mar 20, 2008 10:08 AM

Raghuvaran had a charismatic presence in the films. His involvement in the character role and justifying it was something very few actors can do it. I liked his acting in movie 'SHIVA' also.
MAY THE ALMIGHTY REST IN SOUL IN PEACE.

Great Loss !!!
by arumugam d on Mar 20, 2008 09:22 AM  | Hide replies

Its really a great loss to the industry. He is just 49 and we will really miss many of his actions. If not in films he would have continued in TV serials. By the way, what is the exact reason for his death? I suppose his drinking habit has taken away his life. We recently lost one another actor Pandian for the same reason. Good actors passing away at young age is really hurting.

is this an obituary or a hero worship??
by on Mar 19, 2008 11:35 PM

Is superstar his first name now?? Is it so impossible to name rajnikanth without the word superstar, just like we say Mahatma Gandhi?? You have the gall to heap praises and shower your personal affection to another actor, in an obituary to another?????????
A brilliant actor like Raghuvaran passes away, and instead of his pictures and/or filmography, you mention that he was privileged to work with the "superstar"??
Special word to rediff, either act like a news channel, or be a tabloid. 10% real news and 90% tabloid junk makes you a tabloid so accept it, and keep reporting about affairs and controversies rather than an obituary to one of the best natural actors there was..

This news is a big shock. Raghuvaran was one of my favorite actors. Fantastic character actor and in my mind more captivating than Kamal. I think he was poorly marketed by the movie makers though. This guy can be looked along the lines of Daniel Day-Lewis and Christian Bale for the kind of intensity and reality he brings to his characters. Simply unforgettable. He shall remain immortal in the hearts of Tamilians and all South Indians in general. He was a gem that Tamilians can be proud of, like Sivaji Ganesan.

Check this article from Hindu
"Actor Raghuvaran passes away

Chennai (PTI): Veteran actor Raghuvaran passed away in a hospital here on Wednesday morning following a brief illness.

Raghuvaran, 60, is survived by his ex-wife and son. He was admitted to a private hospital following an ailment about a week back. His funeral will be held this evening, family sources said.

Raghuvaran was married to actress Rohini. However, their marriage was a short lived one and ended in divorce.

He acted in more than 80 films in Tamil and Malayalam and had bagged many awards, including the Tamil Nadu government's 'Kalaimamani' award and best character artiste award.

He had acted with all top actors, including superstar Rajnikanth and Kamal Hassan.

The actor had carved a niche for himself with his special style and voice modulation."

The writer hasn't even cared to edit the content. What a pity for Rediff!!

Most press reports are not collected by field reporters but are bought by the media agencies from press agencies. The most common media agencies are PTI in India and Reuters and Associated Press for international news.
In this case both 'The Hindu' and Rediff might have purchased the article from the same news agency. And this is a common practice Worldwide...Try reading the New York Times and the Washington Post for international news. They will be one and the same.

Couldn't Rediff even put a snap of poor actor Raghuvaran !!
by S on Mar 19, 2008 11:08 PM  | Hide replies

Shame on Rediff--Couldn't even put a snap of poor actor Raghuvaran on this article, instead putting rajnikanth and kamal hassan's-- pity thats what Indian journalism is --biased and coward -- learn something from BBC/CNN/ABC news -- pity our journalist--they are spineless creatures cowards enough to write a thing or two in black and white only if they get free from reporting whats cooking in the kitchen of mayawati's or laloo's and pawars and paswans etc etc. Pathetic ! state of affairs for every Indian
