I've heard the movie was made for 40cr. The movie grossed 100cr in 17 days. Simple math. How is the movie below average?

RE:No one in South India watches these crap, may be muslims watch Hindi movies.....
by Freebies Free on Mar 04, 2008 12:01 AM
Dear Sai, I myself being an "extreme" Southern india, cannot stop from pointing out that Hindi movies have real strong fan following in the south - may be not in villages - but at least from big towns. They are huge favourites of the young generation - college going ones, especially girls.
Of course, they do not attract so much revenue as regional movies (Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada) - mainly because of lack of family audience going to theatres to watch the glamorous and masala-packed Hindi movies.

Wonderful movie
by Calspadeaspade on Mar 03, 2008 09:30 PM  | Hide replies

It is a pity there is so much controversey over a name even though all the other facts are correct. It is a wonderful romantic movie with 2 of the sexiest looking people ( Hritik and Aish). Their romance was depicted in the most dignified and sexiest way which rekindles one's romantic feelings. Great qawali "Kwaja mere Kwaja" and 3 superb scenes The swordfight bet Jodha and Akbar, Akbar taming the elephant and Jodha's return to Ajmere ( reminded me of Cleoptra's return to Rome from Egypt in the movie cleopatra). I cant think of anybody else in that role except Hritik Roshan. What can I say other than "mMshaallah". IMHO this movie was even better than "Mughle Azam". Too bad it was not screened in Up and Rajasthan.

Its UP, MP, and Rajasthans loss! The "movie" (if the idiots accept it as that) is pure poetry in motion and should be appreciated as a work of art.I've heard people from those states are visiting neighboring states to see the movie. All a political drama..thats what it is.

by Kumar on Mar 03, 2008 08:43 PM  | Hide replies

this is good news...more and more hindi movies and regional movies should be released in various languages(dubbed)...this will make the narrow mindedness to open and build harmony...paruthiveeran should be dubbed in hindi and released...if that movie can win berlin festivel award from germans why cant it do well in india?!..

Hello Kumar,

While I accept that Paruthiveeran is a good movie, I prefer to point out that it did not win any AWARD as such at Berlin Film Fest. It received only a "Special Mention" by the Network for promotion of Asian Cinema, which can be considered a huge recognition, since Paruthiveeran was the only Feature Film from India at Berlin.
OSO was a great presence at the fest, along with the magnificent "King Khan" hogging the lime light with lots of fans, but that was just to add some extra glamour to the otherwise serious film festival.

From a news in Rediff, Feb 18 -
Paruthiveeran [Images], by Ameer Sulthan, was honoured with a "special mention" from the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) at the 58th Berlin International film festival. The three-member NETPAC jury included Indian film critic Meenakshi Shedde.

The movie is one of the great Hindustani movies of all time. I agree that it is in same league a Mugle Azam. May be better because of technical improvement in recent years. Hats off to Ashutosh Gowarikar for his superb directions.

Divisive people like you don't even deserve to be in 21st century. You belong medieval times. By the way, regionalism is for tribals who never want to get out of forests!

Secondly remember it is the attitude of few people like you that leads to the situation that is now in Mumbai.....and u know what with ur actions ur pushing Bangalore the mumbai way........and if u hated kannada and kannadigas why did u come to Bangalore........u could have stayed back in ur lousy home town.....nobody invited u here u came here because u get better jobs, higher salary....and better living conditions....agreed..bangalore's living condition has has gone down a lot but guess it is still better than most other places .....if not then why would the migration to bangalore just go on increasing everyday. If u can't show respect to anyone ....the least u could do.....or any civilized perosn would do is not to show disrespect.........

Shame on you Sandy. Animals like you give a bad name to tamils like me residing in other states. People look at us as arrogant and snobish about Kannada, hindi, telugu or malayalam cinema.
Even we have our own share of stupid movies and even we remake and plagarise Kannda, Telugu , Hindi and a lot of Malayalam Cinema..So stop being personal and wear some pants!! you are making a joke of yourself.
And as far as this article goes, I am glad that a lot of people in villages and non-hindi population would love to watch this beautiful epic.
Dear Sanjay Sanjay, Ignore this "Sandy" rabble rousing m*r*on since he is already sick and needs pity.
