brilliant music!!!
by Guest on Aug 26, 2008 08:27 PM

i think the music of the film has introduced something so fresh, that you just keep repeating the tracks and wonder at the fantastic melodies, rhythm changes, great instruments, the spectrum of composition and most of all, the beautiful way in which each song and lyrics go with the movie. i think the music album is ground breaking even though not many people know about it or talk about it.

Something that smacks ur face & guts after Rang De Basanti, Taare Zameen Par! This is phenomenal ! Inspiration or a copy...this movie is totally ours man. The techniques used in the film might not be new, but the end product is crisp.
Some ppl here dont agree with the ending of the film, but I think they don't get the point. Ending is the whole essence of the movie. That is what Aamir is, that is what a leader does, that is where he takes a less trodden path and that is how he leaves imprints on minds of other...forever. He left a legacy of an idea as to how should one fight this war. Not by taking lives of others and not by proclaiming ppl outside his 'kaum' outsiders, but seeing in their eyes the same sense of belonging as one sees in their families. That scene in slow motion says it all and without any words. Whatever be the loopholes in the movie, atleast one should admire the thought behind it and how it was presented without bollowood curry in it.
And about Mr Raja, he liked the movie and he explained y he did, if you have different opinion, try applying for a part time job at rediff.com Movie reviewer and right it yourself/ you got this message board, give a better/honest review urself.

lol there is no similarity. Phone Booth was a cliched movied and the protagonist is in the phone booth for the entire movie. I did not like it.

Aamir is very very different. Debating about a very bold topic. Hats off to everyone involved

fantastic movie...the songs were placed at right places...the theme of the movie is awesome...i wish the didnt keep bomb in the suitcase and just taught him a lesson to do something for the nation...they should have ended the movie with another NRI being kidnapped from airport to make him go thru the same to teach him a lesson...

So the lesson for guys like Dr. Aamir? You probably got the wrong lesson out of the film. In the end, he justifies his name "Aamir (leader)" by going back to the bus, removing the briefcase and saving so many lives and giving up his own life. The movie was not to teach the NRI's to serve the nation or whatever. If you thought that, god help you.

Why we shouldn't applaud Aamir
by Sareesh S on Jun 23, 2008 06:10 PM  | Hide replies

Aamir is an over appreciated film which to be honest is just an average film better than rest of the trash they dole out in Bollywood. Raja Sen needs to see more movies by great directors before he equates this sopoforic bore (with its own endless cliches in character, setting, dialogue and plot) with other great films.
Villains who could have carried out the attack in a more simple way go about it for our sake - I can almost hear the writer's word processor here. A red bag, a cliched prostitute, a hero with just a couple of expressions throughout the entire movie, and a Mumbai shot entirely in long lens. Hasn't anybody seen Salaam Bombay yet?
It is certainly a sad state of affairs when one applauds a film like Aamir. Imagine how bad the state of bollywood is!
Sad, Raja Sen - grow up. You need to know more before becoming a champion of great cinema.

It is a brilliant movie! The direction, acting, cinematography and music is all first class. Mind-blowing, refreshingly different, keeps you hooked every moment! And the final 10 minutes of the climax are just unbelievable, when the meaning of everything that has been going on so far hits you in the face with sudden force. One shivers upon realising the conflict that Aamir faces - just putting oneself in Aamir's shoes at that moment gives goosebumps!

And what perfect ending - there is no other way that an educated rational man like Aamir could have ended his dilemma. This was the least damaging way out! I am sure his family got to live - the terrorist will gain nothing further from killing them and lose nothing from releasing them.

Hats off to Mr Rajkumar Gupta!!!!!

The reason why Aamir killed himself was probably because he had no way to get out of the mess he got himself into unknowingly. His family would have anyways been killed coz he did not blow up the bus. The terrorists would have easily tracked him down. Had he lived, the police wouldn't have left him as the workers at the construction site/ bus passengers had seen his face. They would have thought of him to be a suicide bomber backing out at the last minute. Either way, it was the end of the road for him.

ya u r right, but end main maza nahin aaya, good thing is that movie is close to reality and aamir did nt show any herogiri at climax, that is the best part of it and rajeev fans were not expecting this type of aamir fate.
but bottom line is that AAMIR is surprise hit of 2008,collections had pass more that 1 crore even movie budget is only 2 crores

Great Movie !!!

The plot of "Sholay" was lifted from Seven Samurai..does that mean that Sholay is not a great movie...scipt is important but far more important is the execution of its plot on the screen...watch Aamir..its a great movie...solid script, superb direction, classy camera work, tight screenplay, amazing music, first rate acting...what else do you need (unless you appreciate movies like Om Shanti Om)....
