RE:Azeem shaan Shehenshah is the only saving grace

As I've said before, I totally agree with both sentiments. 'Azeem' is a superb track - majestic & magnificent - totally in tune with both the period and the regal theme of the film. A grand, dramatic & sweeping salutatiton to the mighty emperor. However, the same cannot be said of the other tracks wich are way below par and lukewarm at best. I mean the Javed Ali track could easily be from some Yashraj movie! Not what I expected from the likes of ARR! I seriously suggest that Ms. Verma listens to the album several more times and has a good think about ARR's past works before heaping ill-judged praise. I used to love ARR once upon a time, but nowadays find his music getting increasingly ordinary ('tepid' is the word) & of average-low quality with each new soundtrack. Sad....
Therefore I would totally disagree with Sukanya Verma (not the 1st or last time), who doesn't seem qualified to judge much...and more in agreement with the glamsham review instead which sums it up better:
"Commercially speaking, JODHAA AKBAR proves to be the weakest offering from the stables of Ashutosh Gowarikar and A R Rehman combination."

Only time will tell whether rehman is in the same league of great MDs mentioned above. As of now, he is the best in the business.

hahaha...gd one.... no one has been as consistent as rahman.... even burmans have done some pretty ordinary songs as they've done classics
Suku (Sukanya Verma), do not float in the flow of hypes that the big-budget films create.
Try listening to some good songs before you comment on any composition. Being able to read and write in English is not necessarily going to make YOU a celebrity, Suku!

I agree with redifSucks. The music was indeed a disgrace and a total disappointment (bar 'Azeem')! I think ppl should stop blindly defending ARR, or going by his name/fame or past success and take this soundtrack for what it is - below average. Lets face the music (!), the guy's been sliding downhill for a while now....

Only the title song Azeem shaan Shehenshah was good. Rest of them were nothing compared to AR Rahman's classics like Swades, Roja, Dil Se, Lagaan, Vande Mataram etc.

TOTALLY agree, Sharang. 'Azeem' was the only interesting and outstanding track, full of the drama, passion & regal grandeur befitting the theme. Rest were very ordinary and derivative (though not unpleasant). Not at all what I was expecting from a composer, director and film of this calibre. Very disappointing. Sukanya Verma: clean your ears out and listen again!!!
