Flop !!!
by praveen sharma on Jan 23, 2008 10:34 AM  | Hide replies

Guys,

Beware of over hype. This movie is gonna prove out to be a TV serial in the form of a Movie.
One of the big flop it will turn out to be as there is nothing special about this tale.
The director will ham all the way with the songs and useless over the top romantic scenes. History says that there was nothing so special about akbar-jodha jodi. It's just as much as this that they belonged to different religions and there marriage was a political bondage.
Rest upto you. Happy serial watching !!!

He is an OK music director..nothing extra ordinary really. He comes once in a blue moon. Shankar/Ehasaan/Loy, Mithoon have done much better than him. Refer history.

I refered the history and found that there is no other music director to compose music for period films with contemporary feel except the great ARR. Tell me one period film scored by so called super actor-producer-musician himesh or for that matter any other present MDs.

A Big ANDA from me
by Joanne on Jan 23, 2008 10:17 AM

Its relly disappointing to listen to the music of 'JD'..Rehman is nowhere near his best. Its a let down. its strange to see 4 stars for this album but then again its solely reviewers view.
I have also enjoyed listenning to rehman's music and he will alsways be remembered as the legend of the music industry but this time he fails big time.
Guys what's so great about JD love story, sorry don't know much about them.

Disappointing Shown From ARR
by Palanisamy Ammasai on Jan 22, 2008 11:17 PM  | Hide replies

I think the reviewer is a DIE-HARD fan of ARR - just like me! But the fact of the matter is THIS ALBUM DISAPPOINTS - BIG TIME even for an ARR fan (even after repeated hearing - except the starting track - the album is an un-inspired work from Rahman. After the wonderful Lagan and Swades - Gowariker - Rahman - Javed combo failed for the first time.

Dude !!! Give rahmans music some time....it'll simply spellbind you in some time...initially all rahmans creations sound ordinary...they grow on to you slowly.
Remember LAGAAN ?? it sounded ok initially...later on it was lagaan everywhere

I used to be a fan of ARR too. But I'm slightly bored of him now. Seems to be repetitive and average sounding these days. And the above commenter made a good point - that whether you're a fan or otherwise, one thing is common: the music of J-A is definitely disappointing. People should learn to call a spade a spade instead of blindly praising everything he does. Judge the music for what it is. Even 'Azeem' which seems to be the favorite reminds me a bit of 'Lagaan' in certain places (same kind of sansanasan/chanchanachan/dhandhanadhan typical ARR musical motif type thing). And I don't get why everyone keeps praising the v ordinary 'Jashn' - the Sonu track (Inn Lamhon Ke...) is much better.

I totally agree with you, Sussane. Music composition is a tremendous art especially when there is so much competition around. ARR gives hardly 3-4 melodies over a complete year in contrast to what others are doing in volumes consistently. That is performance..

ARR does lot more than 3-4 melodies per year. He does in other languages also like Tamil. People cannot compare stars with comets.

Dude Anubhav!!
I did not post this as soon as I bought the CD!! I have been a FAN of ARR for years - and still I am!! (Though in Tamil there are other music directors like Yuvan (Mastro Ilayaraja's son), Harris Jayaraj, G.V. Prakash (niece of ARR!) are taking the mantle from ARR these days!!) I listened to it few times looking for some treasures %u2013 but there is none in J-A (except for the opening track!). That%u2019s the truth!! If you want to live in denial %u2013 it%u2019s up to you!

Like Sussane said %u2013 Let%u2019s call a SPADE a SPADE!! This one is a BIG BORE %u2013 to put it mildly!!

Have you listened the TZP music before its film released and felt as great music. Just wait and watch for release of J-A and comment on the music.
