If a serial shows a charector worshipping according to a particular religion, then how it does amount to promoting that religion?
There are numerous movies that show muslims kneeling down on roads and christians worshiping cross sticks. Did we ever call that as promoting imported religions?
This is a classic case of intolorence. The word idol worship is offensive. We Hindus do not worship idols, we worship the God. We use idols only for the concentration purpose.

Rajababu, You are right idol worshiping is remain idolworshiping what ever blend you may have in justification. Its share illeteracy, ignorance, and misleading to the people that animals, pictures, sculptures are GODs, Bow them your wishes will be fulfilled. How educated and learned Indians can digest this bluf and tolerate.

FOR THOSE QUESTIONING IDOL WORSHIP IN HINDUISM: according to hinduism, the ultimate reward for a soul is to merge with the paramatma (God according to u) ... when u achieve that, sex with virgins, wealth , everthing becomes meaningless ...
That paramatma is defined in Hinduism to be the Holy Trinity - who takes the form of creator, preserver, destroyer - all the avatars : rama, krishna, hanuman - are incarnations of one or other form of that trinity - so idol worship for that form is nothing but a means of connecting and concentrating with that divine One ... Idol worship is thus a form of associating sanctity with elememts of the world , like in algebra representing untangibles with symbols to make worship and concentration channelised ... its part of a metaphysical thought process to acknowledge the whole creation to be of, by and for God's ...
in Arya Samaj u can follow Rig Veda and worship with or without idols !

1) Social Flaw: A woman has to produce 4 male witnesses to confirm that she was raped ! Can any muslim tell me how many women ever got a favorable verdict because of such an edict ?
2) Scientific Flaw: Quran says that Sun sets in a muddy pool (Sura 18: 83-86) The greatest Islamic scholar of Saudi Arabia, the Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdulaziz Bin Baz proclaimed that anyone saying that earth was not flat, would be declared apostate (explains the filthy uneducated islamic ethos) Compare this to Rig Veda - they describe the exact speed of light numerically 6500 years ago (Rig Veda : 1.50 - just google: Rig Veda SPEED OF LIGHT)
Of course there are many other glaring scientific flaws in quran , i just count few
3) SPIRITUAL FLAW: THAT the ultimate reqward for a faithful is jannat with virgins and cascades of water Suicide bombers are killing innocents in quest for these virgins
Contrast this to hinduism, believes in karma - sow as u reap - and the ultimate reward for the soul is to merge with Paramatma or God(then sex with virgins become meaningless)

Is their religion so weak that they are unsure of their followers. Hinduism preaches tolerance and that is not what Talibanis want. More power to Ekta Kapoor. She's put fear in the hearts of Taliban.

Hindu way of life is the real one! true to nature and close to earth and life. every festivity is associated with earth, our harvest and our seasons! this is true the rest is bogus.
if Islam is so real and powerful whey they are afraid of Hindu way of life shown on TV serials??
Hindu way of life is not following any one religion or prophet or padri. They celeberate all good values on the earth. There is no boundry between religious tradition and daily life. Like salt in the water the religious values are made diuted magnificantly with in the life. So if you want to really learn about Hinduism you cannot do it by reading some holy books, you need to practice it, otherwise its almost impossible to know the value of Hinduism. Whoever wanted to reaserch Hinduism in the past have become HINDUS without force!
Therefore hinduism is practiced tharoghly in every Hindus ordinary life. If any one wants to film this lifestye he needs to show the reality thereby showing all real Hinduism. Thats why you see in every serial/film this realistic story. Let taliban ban these shows, what are you doing Indian govt? dont support them anymore, they are insulting you.

You dont know the meaning of IDOL WORSHIPING and its value, You cannot know its meaning of this also, since Hinduism itself is not taught by any single persons. Its a confluence of Ideas of millions. Even christians worship Idols? So all in all more than 40% of the world population do Idol worshipping. They cannot be wrong, Bhajiya.

Humans, animals, birds, trees, rocks, mountains, rivers...everything is God's creation. None of them is inferior to another. Everything has its place in the nature and so we need to respect them as much as we respect God himself. Because they are his creation. Therefore accepting, appreciating and worshipping his creation is not in anyway reducing his importance but enhancing it.
The fact is majority Indian population is Hindu and the soaps want to reflect what this Hindu population does. They may or may not have an agenda that seeks to consciously promote Hindu way of life. What they certainly have on mind is TRP's.
However, from the way Rediff has asked this question, it sounds as if the Indian soaps are the latest criminals in the court of secularism. This isn't a topic that merits discussion.
The question is better asked this way,'Is the Afghan government getting Talibanised?'...a reference did come in the report. And that can be the topic to discuss than asking whether Indian soaps are promoting Hindu way of life...

TV serials one of target is to create sympathy in the name of god so viewers shall remain stick to idiotbox. Ladies specially old age and childrens like this sentiments of prayers to ALmighty in their favourate Idol Gods being worship for example- Lord na- Gujrati,Lord Ram- UP Bihari, Bhojpuri, Ganpati- Maharashtra, Durga- Bangali,Oria, Assamia, Shiva- South Indian so he hardly visible in Hindi serials, Vishnu- Telgu, Laxmi & Brahma-Rajasthani & Harayanvi = all this idol Gods are brand of region described above. This is open secreat in Indian society even if I produce public viewership program cinema, TV serial or any thing related I will focus on this preferences.
how on earth do sick serials that have nothing better to do than to let out evil people whose main objective is to take over the world by killing all the others actually PROMOTE hinduism? it shows hinduism in bad light, just like islamic terrorists
