The situation of Hindus in non-Hindu countries
by Kalyan Raman on Apr 07, 2008 10:36 PM  | Hide replies

Anyone who complains about the treatment of non-Hindu minorities in India should see how minorities are treated in other religion countries. When banning these program,s for being "unislamic" did anyone think there may also be Hindus living in Afghanistan?

Abdul Khan,
India is also known as 'Hindustan'. Does that mean all other religions should not be tolerated? Please take that thinking out of your head.

I will say this, except Saudi & Pakistan , there is no other place where hindus are mistreated, actually in emirates they are the one who are making the economy.

Now going back to saudi, & pak, ANY HINDU LIVING IN THIS COUNTRY IS A FOOL, why liv there, even muslims dont wanna live there as the economy is F'ed up , no jobs. And they openly say that they dont like hindus, then why live? They are themselves responsible for their dire situations

The so called Taliban had demolished the standing statue of Gautham Budha. Who was founder of Budhism and who is worshipped throughtout world. what else you can expect from these poeple. in the name of muslim religion doing all those things. but they are forgetting that their act is spoiling the muslim religion and people who follow it. there is only one religion in the world that is humanity. please understand this. GOD made one earth, but we have divided it with borders.

You are an idiot. If someone doesn't agree with the way you live your life, are they allowed to kill you? Respect and tolerance for others way and preferences will bring peace to this world.

The quality if Indian Television has detoriated..

I wud rather watch reruns of old doordarshan TV series like Malgudi Days, Circus, nukkud , Gulshan Karamchand, Byomkesh Bakshi, Yogi ....

pls DEvang Bhojani,Aatish Kapadia, Pankaj Kapur n cast come up with more serials like Khichdi,Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai.. Office Office

the TV series we have now are over the top...show women in bad light..n worst of all...we are not even entertained..we are infact institutionalized with the garabage

Sir, O irresponsible waste of a human being,
let me say this, If you have good material AS YOU CLAIM YOU HAVE, AND THAT ALL OTHER SERIALS ARE WASTE, then no body needs to get any time slots for you ,
AS CHANNELS WILL CALL YOU , THEY WILL COME TO YOU

Mr. Khan 100% agree with your choice of TV serials.

The cable telecasts are all bunch of mindless, non-educative, manipulative, non-sense junkies. Even the reality shows are pathetic. Where is the quality?

I actually agree with Abdul Khan, the serials are all soaps. In fact, I would ban the serials, not even based on Hindu-culture, but just based on montonous acting/dialogues and story-line. ITS SO REPETITIVE....eesshhh...

No wonder some fine actors like Harsh Chhaya and that Vadra guy are not seen as much, why would they act where only various chiffon sarees and the length of the kajal are showcased?

I know Dramas on TV are as important as Comedies..

and Mythological Serials is not a bad thing either...its actually easy way to educate ur kid abt the right and wrong in life...thats what Ramayana Mahabharata are all about ...they in a symbolic way define a fine line between RIGHT n WRONG..

but the quality is the question...gone are the days with loud music performances..n tacky camerawork....may be a good adaptation of ramayana ...mahabharata to the modern times n lives is a better idea so that ppl can relate to it..
I dont know when was the last time we saw decent Drama if not comedy TV series broadcasted in chaNnels..

Banegi Apni baat Parampara..etc...were probably the last of decent dramas that were telecasted..

i totaly agree with u.....they should be banned in India too.....they dont show anything other than Hindu rituals when actualy India proudly claims to be a democratic country open to all religions and very tolerant. Then why only hindu stuff projected?....we dont need all that melodramatic crap.

Why focus so much on rituals and religions? Isnt enough what we practice at home or within community.

There are other sweet and bitter sides of life, people(from lower to higher strata of society) and culture with different stories to be given importance too.

These serials are just eye-candies, there is no food for mind or brain.

A serial should be made by keeping targeted audience in mind.

but there are no genres in the serials we see today...

most of them are abt a rebel gal ...a dreamer trying to fit into the new world shez thrown into...the basic theme of most of the serials is the same....

now the ppl ae so used to these kind of serials...if they see a new Tv series coming up which does not fit into the current lot of Serials they may resist it....and it may not get a chance to run beyond first season...

so the target audience is the most important entity when Tv Series is being made...the timeslot is not actually an issue....Its hard to survive in a prime timeslot if its not a balaji Tv serial or Indina Idol...

instead of reruns of crappy serials....Fun filled late night tv shows should be started..

ppl who come late from work...can watch these shows before goin to bed...

do you really thing so or just pretending !!

will they allow Hindu religious/traditional channels ?
Don't forget Iraq had refused sri sri Ravi Shankar's "state of the art" Yoga offer just because it would promote Hinduism. S.A is another e.g which doesn't allow any other religion. So Afghan is no different
(don't misunderstand it).

What do they mean by serials being un-islamic. Why should they be Islamic in any way. What do they expect??? To me this is probably a false or a foolish statement by some idiotic talibani now being used by rediff to create a stupid baseless discussion. Grow up please and spare us this mush.
