A Temple of Rajani Saar!!!
by manoj thaker on Sep 16, 2007 11:52 AM  | Hide replies

Is it correct that some fanatics - so called fans have started constructing Rajani saar's temple some where in TN?
By the way, why all these fan clubs in the name of Rajni etc.- They do not have any thing to do?
Why Rajani saar is offered CM's post - there aren't any better politicians in TN?
and finally why all Tams are soooo emotionally fools?

Just like North Indians get soooo emotionally fools when it comes to Ram temples and Kumbh melas. People from states which can be called the basket-cases of the world (read UP et al) are talking about Tamilians being fools..what an irony!

acting skills of rajini is not near to amithab but as a human and as an actor ,he has made his mark globally...and he has much fame than amithab all over this world.more he wont choose stupid film which does not choose indian culture
for example Ghost stories haunt the moonlit backroads of the American South. Their roots in Southern culture and folklore are deep. Each month, The Moonlit Road brings you these ghost stories and other strange Southern folktales, told by the region's best storytellers. But Rajanikant wont act in a ghost storyHaving struck gold at the box office in India and abroad with Rajnikanth [Images] starrer Sivaji: The Boss, AVM Productions is trying to work out another foreign release in Malay and Chinese as dubbed versions.

But, playing it safe, S C Babu, CEO, AVM Productions insists that it is too early to make an announcement as the talks with foreign counterparts are still in early stages.

The movie is likely to be screened at the Tokyo International Film Festival in the first week of October and discussions are on to release the film in Japan [Images] with Japanese subtitles.

Rajnikanth has a strong fan base in Japan and the demand is backed by local fan following and not just Indians living in Japan.

According to Babu, the universal appeal of the music scored by A R Rahman along with the strong visual attraction (all those stunning sets created by Thota Tharani) are strong drivers for the demand for this movie in foreign countries.

Dear Ann,

I have said elsewhere also, certainly Sivaji is not Rajini's best movie nor it is the best film ever made, I see cinema as a Director's medium and follow the work of Directors like Shankar, Mani Ratnam, Cheran, Balachander, Balu Mahendra (in Tamil Cinema that is) more than those of actors. In that context, Sivaji is also a bit of come down from Shankar who was outstanding with his ability to shock and surprise in Anniyan. Yes, the script of Sivaji bowed down before Rajini's persona and charisma. But you can't deny that this movie was an out and out entertainer and made to order for Rajini fans. Yes for comparison's sake, a movie like Vettayaadu Vilayaadu was far, far better and engrossing than Sivaji. The main achievement of Sivaji is that it is Rajini's and probably Indian cinema's biggest hit both within and outside India. But certainly not a torture in any sense of the word. Want to undergo torture, see Mahesh Bhatt's movies(I mean all movies from the Vishesh stable produced by Mukesh and Pooja Bhatt)of recent vintage.

Kartik,

How many Tamil movies have you seen to base your opinion and conclude that Rajini is a universal zero.. I bet you don't understand Tamil at all, but have some kind of abhorence for either Tamil people or Tamil movies. A universal zero will not have following in Hong Kong, Japan, US and other countries outside India. Sure, Rajini is not my favourite actor, and certainly there are others who are more competent. But that does not mean he is a bad actor by any stretch of imagination. The problem is if at least some Rajini fans are seemingly over rejoicing, at least they have seen Rajini movies especially Sivaji, but half of those who criticise have certainly not seen Sivaji. Sure, this is not the best Rajini movie and certainly a significant come-down for Shankar after his wonderful Anniyan. More than Rajini's acting, it is his charisma that has carried Sivaji far, too far, to make it not just his own biggest hit, but probably of Indian cinema. I say this not as a fan of Rajini, a die hard one I am not, but as a cine-watcher.

Well that is a question open to argument. What about Sivaji Ganesan or Dev Anand in Hindi? But one thing I concede readily, the variety of roles done by Kamalahasan cannot be matched by any other actor in India, probably with the exception of Naseeruddin Shah. In fact, in an issue of Filmfare, Kamal identified him as one of the best actors in India and was candid enough to admit, that he would only have omitted Naseer out of his list out of pure jealousy. Sometime I challenge myself and think deeply whether even my favourite Naseer could have done the role done by Kamal himself in Kurudippunaal (in fact, that movie was so brilliant that everyone especially the outstanding Arjun, Nasser just kept on making the movie better and better).

Kamal is of course more multi-faceted than probably any other cine artist in India in that he can effortlessly dabble in music, dance, direction, photography, art etc. Only a person like him could have conjured scenarios like those in Kurudippunaal. But one is also prejudiced towards Sivaji Ganesan because of his pure acting skills and the effort he put into each character performed by him. But we can leave it at that.... this is a Rajini-centric topic is it not.

It is improper to conclude that Rajini has lesser acting skills than Amitabh. Sure Rajini acted in a few Hindi movies, spoke Hindi with a southern accent and his performance in many of those movies except may be Andha Kanoon was above average. I think he acted very well in Tyaag or Tyaagi. But at least he tried in a field outside his own which is Tamil cinema or southern cinema (I believe he has done some other south indian movies besides Tamil). Amitabh has yet to prove a Tamil movie so his histrionic capabilities in that field are not proven. But even in Hindi cinema, Amitabh is certain below the acting ranks of Guru Dutt, Balraj Sahni, Sanjeev Kumar, Dilip Kumar, Naseeruddin Shah. Amitabh can never do the unglamarous roles of Hawaldars done by Naseer and Om Puri in Maqbool. Even Naseer was outstanding in the Tamil version of Hey Ram. I say this not because I am anti-Amitabh or pro-Rajini, but I base my views on my experience of watching cinema of Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, English Hindi movies since the late 60s.
