SHOOTING LOCATION BENARAS IS LOOKING MORE AND MORE BEAUTIFUL IN THE MOVIE. AND PERFORMANCES OF ALL THE ARTISTS, SP. RANI ARE GREAT. SO IT WILL BE A MERGINAL HIT AND EARN THE MAKING MONEY. IF SOMEBODY WANT TO WATCH A TIME PASS MOVIE W/ TRUE FAMILY VALUES & GOOD SONGS HE OR SHE CAN GO FOR IT. NOT BAD THE MOVIE IS. IN 90 % CASES REDIFF'S MOVIE REVIEWS AND RATINGS ARE WRONG. THERE STARS ARE ACTUALLY STONES. REDIFF SHOULD LEARN MOVIE REVIEW FROM SOME MOVIE EXPERT. AFTER THAT THEY SHOULD TRY IT ONLY.
I never understood the process of rating a movie by REDIFF. This rating never matches the common sentiments. Laga Chunari Me Daag is a classic movie with good cinematography, best possible acting and with a strong story line to support all this. If REDIFF team has not enough merit, then they should stop commenting on movies. Other sources of reviewes are readily available. One star rating "Forget about it", certainly gives this site's review a one star, means forget about the REDIFF's review.

Today no classic movies are made. Gone are those day when classic movies like Pyasa, Ganga Jumna, Mother India, Guide, Satyakam, Anand, Abhiman etc were made!
dear raja- thats crap and u know it..when u write a movie review u have to act like that impersonal jury and not let your personal prejudice show up..sure it is a out dated film but not as bad as u make out...cinematography especially the early mornings at ganga ghat..acting -the last scene when jaya breaks down..movie does have some points and definately rates atleast 2 stars

The movie ends on a happy note,which I think is not acceptable.How can a girl, who has lost everything,from morale to chastity....everything which she had,is shown happy and complete at the end?I mean it is spreading a wrong message to the society,especially to the youth,the feminine youth rather.May be at some stage many girls in our country would find it an easy way out to earn money and enjoy life(...why to worry there will be someone like abhishek to marry and moreover to respect like a devi....).Rani should have commited suicide at the end to justify the jeopardy.

I dont agree with Amit that Rani should have committed suiside at the end of the movie. Nor do i agree with Reena that its others who force women into prostitution. Its a choice of each individual as to what he/she wants to do. Dont u think men have financial crises they dont necessarily become prostitutes (even male prosts exist these days), or beggers or thieves. Its women who do it who are to be blamed for it not others Still i dont agree with suiside climax.

how rude of you to suggest that rani's character should have commited suicide. it is because of useless people like you that women in india are not allowed to come out of their stereotype roles.. people like you would also suggest that after a girl is raped, she should commit suicide, even though it is no fault of hers.

This is a film Amit. Anyone with a brain cell knows there are very few happy endings for women like that!
Why should Rani's character have committed suicide? Why not the people who bought her into the world and could not clothe and feed her and had expectations of her to provide for them.
The people who should commit suicide are the people who force women like Rani into prostitution.
And finally the people who should commit suicide are the MEN who go and visit these prostitutes.
